Gerard Butler on "300" Prequel/Sequel

Gerard Butler on "300" Prequel/SequelSubmit Comment
MTV News sat down with Gerard Butler, who is promoting "Law Abiding Citizen," to talk about the prequel/sequel to "300," which has been rumored ever since the first film became a huge hit.

"I don't know how real it is," admitted Butler. "I had an incredible time doing the first one, and I think that if the first one was a stand-alone, as a one-off, there's no bad thing in that."

Director Zack Snyder previously stated that he would love to make the second installment, but only if Frank Miller makes another graphic novel that the movie would be based on. Last we heard, Miller has already finished and Snyder is still interested.

And while Butler sounds like he might want to put "300" behind him, there is still some hope that he would consider reprising his role. "Let's see what it might bring forward with a second one," he said.

Gerard Butler had better hope for another 300 movie if he wants to pay his bills.

@Ari

You must have me confused with someone who really cares about what you think.

Why a sequel?
The story ends in a specific way, there is no more.
The graphic novel, the original film from the 60's, neither has anymore story to tell. Move on to some other historical battle.

Don't know about this, but I will say that Law Abiding Citizen looks very slick and, if they stick to the excellent original screenplay by Darabont and Kurt Wimmer, it should be a kick ass revenge film.

In the actual historical story, there are both battles that happen before and after the stand portrayed in 300. The only problem with making a movie about them, is that there's really not that much excitement there.

the sequel must be 301

@Takai

Battle of Marathon or Plaetea will be awsome, only thing is, Leonidas wasn't in any of those battles!

Y'know, I think Zack Snyder's style in his movies is pretty impressive and I've thoroughly enjoyed them all, but I would really like to see him do something original. When he talks about wanting to do a sequel but only after Frank Miller finishes the book, I feel like it's more because he lacks vision as apposed to honoring Frank's creation. Not sure if he's competent enough to do a movie on his own, which sucks, cause like I said, I enjoy his work.

Snyder is a visionary, his sh*t is pop art. He may use pre-existing story's, but they way his movies play out are original. Cant wait for Sucker Punch.

How the hell can you make a sequel if the main character is dead? Prequel=yes Sequel=NO

cant be a sequel cuzzzz he got killd at the end of 300 a prequel/sequel is a bad idea hollywood needs to come up with someing fresh
billofill writes:

Having it be a sequel could make sense and still have Leonidas, It could be like Godfather 2.

Zack Snyder is a great director, just please don't let Frank Miller direct again...ever.

I also am looking forward to Sucker Punch. But even more htan that I'm looking forward to Snyder's remake of The Illustrated Man, which is my favorite film of all time.
