Marlon Wayans in Talks for Richard Pryor Biopic

Marlon Wayans in Talks for Richard Pryor BiopicSubmit Comment
Back in February, we learned that director Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) was shopping his script for a Richard Pryor biopic, called "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?," to studios and independents distributors. At the time, Eddie Murphy was attached to star.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Murphy has now dropped out over conflicts with Paramount Pictures. And Marlon Wayans (GI Joe), who fought for the role by presenting producers with a thirteen minute screen test, is in advanced negotiations to take over.

The new movie depicts Pryor's controversial brand of comedy and his battle with drugs. Condon was hoping to secure a $25 million budget for the project and ended up coming close by receiving $20 million.

I have the same birthday as richard pryor! great comedian. a deserving contender for a biopic. Will the "setting himself on fire in a suicidal rant while freebasing" scene be included? Marlon Wayans ain't a bad choice.

Eddie Murphy Dropped because the movie was gonna be rated R and he only does PG movies o and because he couldn't wear a fat suit

@Entourage I will respectfully disagree based on Marlon's portrayal of an addict in Reqiuem for a Dream. He has potential, it just takes a script and director.

shouldn't they pick an actor that's funny?

hopefully he lights himself on fire and runs out on Parthenia st. in Northridge screaming for a cabbage to bite on.

... Just sayin

Its bad enough this moron helped ruin GI Joe. He would make this movie horrible.

Good for him. I hope he gets the role.

And for the record "LastActionHero", GI JOE ruined GI Joe.

Marlon didnt ruin, GI JOE, the director did. That movie was a piece of sh*t.

How about i film myself having sex with a chicken? I'm sure it would be better than anything Marlon Wayans could do.

When we heard Jamie Foxx was going to be Ray, everybody thought it was going to be crap. When we heard Will Smith was going to be Ali...same thing. Marlon is a professional actor, and I imagine as a black comic, he probably idolizes Pryor. I can't wait to see how Mr. Wayans decides how to approach this role.

Marlon could pull this off, but Eddie is by far the best person to portray Pryor.

g.i. joe was a joke to the franchise etc and it wasnt marlons fault at all.
think murph summed it up well...re:will smith and jamie foxx...
