"Predators" Character Breakdown and Casting News

"Predators" Character Breakdown and Casting NewsSubmit Comment
Danny Trejo recently announced that after "Machete" he will be re-teaming with Robert Rodriguez for "Predators," in which he will play the character Cuchillo, a Mexican enforcer from a drug cartel who has twin uzi strapped to his back.

There are a total of eight main characters in the film who will be fighting to survive the Predators' planet while being hunted by the creatures. At one point, they will run into an American man who has was kidnapped by the Predators years ago and has since been hiding to stay alive. Some assume that Rodriguez is leaving this role open for Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In addition to Trejo and possibly Schwarzenegger, who previously mentioned that he would consider appearing in the film, the cast also includes Walton Goggins (pictured), the star of the FX series "The Shield." At this point, it is not clear which role he has been cast for, but one can only assume it is for Stans or Edwin.

Below is a list of the main characters.

* Royce: main character, a Steve McQueen-type

* Cuchillo (Trejo): a Mexican enforcer from a drug cartel who has twin uzi strapped to his back

* Nikolai: a frightening, Russian bear-of-a-man, armed with a four barrel, gas powered, rotary machine gun

* Isabelle: a tough-as-nails woman armed with a sniper rifle and speaks French

* Stans: A prisoner with a shaved head, a scorpion tattoo on his neck and armed with a prison-made knife

* Mombassa: An African member of the Sierra Leon death squad

* Hanso: a bad-ass Japanese Yakuza enforcer

* Edwin: a small unassuming man who is formerly one of FBI's most wanted

Okay, that would be killer if Arnold reprised his role as Dutch. The more I hear about it, the better it sounds, especially after the AvP debacle.

Izzy sounds like Russo from "Lost". Goggins pretty much only plays a Southerner(WP forgot to put he was a Deputy in "House of 1,000 Corpses").

arnie could be the advisor like sigourney weaver in 'aliens' because of his age and everyone will laugh at him but when the sh*t hits the fan and arnie will start kicking predator ass everyone will respect him as they will become 1 by 1 victims of the predator...

Mombassa-Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Adebisi from Oz)
Royce- Micky Rourke
Nikoli- Tyler Mane ( if he could get the accent or he could be a mute)
still trying to think of ideas for Hanso maybe cast unknown

Good thing that he looks like serial killer

I have a feeling Royce should be English, not American. Preferably, Joel Edgerton or Johnathan Rhys-Meyers. Mombassa should be Idris Elba or Eammon Walker. And Edwin should be played by Doug Hutchinson.

this is set in the far future so arnold aka dutch cant be in it.... its gonna kick ass
SACdaddy writes:

They never said it was in the future. Its just on an another planet. Anyway, its good to here Goggins is joining the cast. The guy's a great character actor who can do anything from a kickass Texas redneck (Shanghai Noon) to a hard core east coast cop on the edge. Rodriguez has been puting some great ensembles together lately and I can't wait to see who he cast next.

Lost addict, there is no "advisor" role to be had, apparently all these main characters have been "kidnapped" and taken to the planet unwillingly to be hunted (because they are superbadass killers back on earth, which is a super gay plot). So you see there is no room for what you suggest.
After reading the supposed detailed plot synopsis, I have to say, I'm extremely worried about this film, especially after the mention of "predator dogs" and "predator eagles"" which, by the way, is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas and contradicts everything about the predator's honor system.

So far everything about this movie reads FAILURE in my opinion. I hope all news about this film that has been released up to this point is completely false.

When's hollywood going to learn that woman can never be as tough as nails?
Bob82 writes:

This sounds less original everytime I hear something new about it, but the crazy thing is, it's sounds even better. I hope it's pure crazy fun, lots of gore and old school special effects.

And Arnold, of course...
eViL.kEv2 writes:

I have a decent amount of faith in this one, but it seems like Rodriguez is just throwing everything he has at this one whether it fits or not. Did the Predators really scour the globe for these eight candidates? A Steve McQueen-type, badass as he may be, is still not much of a challenge compared to an Army Ranger or a Navy SEAL. A "tough-as-nails woman"? That's cute. Why not throw in a computer savvy paraplegic? That would be a good challenge for a race of highly evolved, ridiculously strong and smart, emotionless hunters. On there own turf, no less.

Eben1277 writes:

mcarney, the "advisor" role would be the guy who has been hiding out n the planet for years after being kidnapped.

Walton Goggins was in one of the most bad ass movies of all time. He was a CIA tech in Bourne Identity

Hanso should be Sho Kosugi, if he's not too old at this point.
Eben1277 writes:

@Spooky... You want a tough as nails woman, google up Kathy Long. That bitch could eat Gina Carano for breakfast back in the day. I think in her prime she could have beaten any man in her weight class in MMA, and a few in higher weight classes

Holtlt, love the Thomas Jane for Royce casting! If that doesn't work out, a buffed-up Timothy Olyphant or George Clooney would be great (if RR can convince him to play a badass type again like he played in RR's From Dusk Til Dawn).

Honestly, I really want to see Arn-OLD in the movie, but at the same time, make sure his role is minimalistic. If he's been fighting predators, and he's been doing it for 20 years, why is he on a planet that they dragged him into?! Think about it. He would have stuck some C4 to the shipping guy's head and then killed his way into the next flight back home. He won't have an Arnold headquarters and start a revolution. It's arnold.

My critique besides, I'm very interested in this movie. I hope it doesn't play out like AVP or any of its incarnations (haven't looked into it).
minkowski writes:

rabid writes:

I'd be really interested to know how Dutch would find his way to the predator planet.
Maybe he found the first predator's ship and somehow piloted it to their home.
And maybe the renegade humans will need him for something similar.
Ranger writes:
