MGM Makes Deal to Keep "The Hobbit" on Track

MGM Makes Deal to Keep "The Hobbit" on TrackSubmit Comment
We recently reported that MGM had to set up a meeting to beg lenders for money in order to last till the end of the year and be able to fund "The Hobbit." It is now being reported that the studio secured the cash and will proceed with the "Lord of the Rings" prequel.

Lenders didn't agree to the deal out of fear of losing their investment if MGM goes bankrupt, but because it was proven that the studio can stay in business for at least another year and "The Hobbit," "Pink Panther" and James Bond franchises are key for MGM to maintain decent market value.

If MGM ends up collapsing, rights to the film properties will go to the lenders, who will likely auction everything off in hopes of recouping their loses. But for now, "The Hobbit" is safe and is still on track to appear in theaters by 2011.

The Hobbit is a cash cow so they are screwed if it doesn't keep going.

For one thing, they need to stop financing Pink Panther movies. And film their Bond films with half that preposterous budget...
I really hope the Hobbit is less boring than all 3 LOTR films.

Here's a n idea, ya f*ckers stop making sh*tty films like the remake of Fame or the remake of the Pink Panther films that some how you say arent remakes.
