Mark Wahlberg's "The Fighter" Videos and PhotosPosted: September 23rd, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
  Today we have several more photos of Mark Wahlberg and a skinny Christian Bale on the set of the upcoming "The Fighter" film. In addition, we also have two video blogs in which Wahlberg is shown training and talks about the film. Check everything out below.
In the movie, Wahlberg will play Boston boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward, a fighter who was losing bouts and was ready to hang up the gloves when his brother came back into his life.
Bale will play Eklund, whose drugs and robbery spree drew him a 10- to 15-year sentence in state prison. There, he kicked drugs, became a model prisoner and emerged as a changed man who helped his brother reach the glory that eluded him.

Remember that video of David O. Russell yelling at Lily Tomlin in the set of "I Heart Huckabees"? Well, thinking of Christian Bale's outburst, what I would give to be a fly on the wall in this set!

I am kinda upset. They say Cristian Bale looks like a stick figure with a little bit of hair on top. You can't see his entire body here. I wanted to see what he looked like. They say he weighs around 145lbs now and he is going really going bald. He's over 6 foot right? (Does anyone know??) So he has to be skinny. Here you can't really tell. I was just curious that's all. Does he look sick to anyome else????

@michelerena
Some resources bill him as 6'1", some as 6'2". I recall hearing they casted him as Batman because he was 6'2" But either way, 145 lbs is light for a man of that frame (especially considering he was over 200 for Batman begins).
He's not sick, though. He just dieted and cut the weight. See the movie "The Machinist." He dropped to 120lbs for that.

he's one of those guys who can either be classified as an ectomorph and a meso-... thus gaining or losing weight seems no problem to this guy
translation = lots of supermodels envy the dude

He's not sick... yet. He's on an apple and 1 can of tuna day diet.
Like this guy or not... Bale is committed to his work.

This movie is going to be great. I read Wahlberg's workout routine in Muscle and Fitness about a year ago (not his prep routine for the movie, just his normal workouts) and it's brutal. If pro boxers worked as hard as this guy boxing would still overshadow MMA.
Mickey Ward was an inspirational fighter, his in ring wars with the late Arturo Gatti are all legendary, and some of the best fights in the history of the sport.
