Sylvester Stallone Replies to "Rambo 5" Fan Comments

Sylvester Stallone Replies to "Rambo 5" Fan CommentsSubmit Comment
Sylvester Stallone recently revealed that he's developing a new "Rambo" movie that will be a bit sci-fi and will revolve around a military project that develops super-soldiers by bringing out their "savagery." When one of these soldiers escapes, Rambo and a Black Ops squad are called in to save the day.

Most fans of the franchise are unsure how they feel about Stallone changing the genre of the film series and are comparing "Rambo 5" to "Predator," rather than to any other "Rambo" movie. And while these fan comments seem mostly negative, Stallone feels very strongly regarding the direction he has chosen.

"I don't want to keep repeating myself and just doing films about war," he said at the Venice Film Festival. "This is a very psychological film about sophisticated man fighting primitive man."

He continued: "It's actually possible today, with all the cloning and stem cell research, to actually have some experiments that don't work very well and get out of control."

I have no problem with Sly trying a different direction from war, just create a new character for it! Leave Rambo back home on the farm!

Ummm, no it's not Sly. Cloning is terribly inefficient, and produces a viable, living clone in about 1/300th the embryos, much less a mutant superhuman beast.

And stem cell works at the cellular level to cure diseases. To make a monster like you're talking about, you'd have to have quick, dependable cloning techniques, amazing knowledge of not only human DNA but also the DNA of whatever animal or insect you wanted to use for transgenic implantation, and billions and billions of dollars. The government can't even get the DMV right, so how could we expect them to produce some sort of functional monster?

It takes years, decades even, just to get a gene from a daffodil into the chromosome of maize correctly.

Please, do get back to your Rocky Predator Show and leave science to people that know better.

Yeah, ok, but IT'S A LAME, WAY OVER-USED PLOT!!! Talk about repeating himself, but he's just repeating other people. Again, the "fake" plot that leaked before was better and actually more original.

i think the movie will rock.sly is an old school action maker.

so the sophisticated man is the animal, and the primitive man is rambo? i like that synopsis. GREAT MOVIE! haha... such a disappointment, why doesn't he just fight the predator with ahnold and get his career over with; start a new franchise.

As long as he keeps it hard R I couldn't care less about the change to a sci-fi plot

it's your audience sly...keep them entertained and you'll have a winner...but don't integrate this idea with rambo...we all knew that this story is possible with today's technology...but that's not the point....the point is, that is not very rambo like...even the 4th rambo could've had this story but didn't...and that's what i liked about the 4th, it was realistic, no sci-fi, or no realistic sci-fi....and that's what that current idea is to me, realistic sci-fi mixed in with rambo...i mean i understand it gets boring to do the same crap in the sequels...but that's what makes us keep watching them...of course...if this 5th film wasn't made...it'd be a first i've seen that hollywood let's a franchise actually die instead of milking it to the point of remaking it

Go for it Rambo. Whatever it takes to repair the image after the least one. Army stuff gets boring after a while. If Rambo can save a village, he can save the Earth.

First of all - Stallowned will turn 78 anytime this month - one more pop of steroids and he's gonna have his fatal heart attack like Mike Jackson. Second, at his age who's he gonna fight to make it minimally credible? Grandpa Simpsons?
Third - at least make it fun - get some good cgi expert and give what the fans the ultimate fight they all want: YES - Rambo vs. Rocky! They did Predator vs. Aliens so, just go all the way!
