Warner Bros Not Interested in "He-Man" Movie

Warner Bros Not Interested in "He-Man" MovieSubmit Comment
Now that Warner Bros is focusing more on the DC Comics properties, it has decided to separate from Mattel's "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" toy line that the studio was planning to develop into a live-action film.

Mattel and Warners didn't see eye to eye over the direction of the project and made a mutual decision to let the option lapse this month. Mattel will take back the property and set it up elsewhere. The expectation is that director John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) will remain with the project, but not producer Joel Silver, who is exclusive to WB.

Mattel still has several properties set up at studios, including "Hot Wheels" at Warner Bros, "Major Matt Mason" at Universal for Tom Hanks to star, and Max Steel at Paramount.

Is that Alex in his He-man costume?

Cast Schwarzenegger and all will be good.

"Warner Bros Not Interested in "He-Man" Movie"

And neither am I

This movie needs to happen. They could make it so good. Kind of a mix between a Lord of the Rings epic and 300-type battles. This could kick so much ass! Hope they don't f*ck it up.

wow, a studio that is not itnerested in making a sh*tty movie about a classic toy line. holy sh*t

i guess it would be sweet if they cast that dude in the pic as he-man

one of the most useless characters ever... good on Warner for discarding this trash

I don't know trig... I feel dirty and need a shower after just looking at that He-Man pic!

@makingcircles - your's are the best ideas I've heard yet for this film. Because if they did it any other way... it would suck more than Lohan.

Honestly... that's a disturbing picture.

Completely agree with you Ranger. Which I guess is agreeing with myself...but anyway...
I don't know why some of you guys are bashing MOTU...granted...most of my enthusiasm comes from nostalgia. However, if you break down what He-Man is you have some good material to make a movie. I mean, he's a Barbarian Superman basically. There are tons of badass characters that have legitimate story lines, and then you got a little Sci-Fi mixed with Fantasy. I just think if they focused on character development and storyline they could really make a pretty sweet film. Come on! Where my 80s junkies at??

Ahh...I know the secret behind WP and their picture selection process now. It's a three step process...Google, Cut, Paste. Here is where they got it...looks like a "Post your homemade costume" site. This poor gay chap doesn't even know he's being exploited on WP.

If they ever did another He-man movie, they'd need an awesome script and a great director.

Personally, I think they should leave it alone.

Couldn't you post one less offensive like a human decapitation or something Alex?

I mean... who would ever wear an orange c*mberbund with brown shorts?! TELL ME!

And what's with this hair? Is that cut from the Little Orphan Annie collection... OR WHAT?!?!

And don't even get me started on his chest accessories! You don't wear stuff like that before 8... EVERYONE KNOWS THIS BUT THIS DUMB sh*t!!!
rabid writes:

dumbasses. He-Man, if done right, could be an explosively popular film series. Bigger than Lord of the Rings even.
Ranger writes:
on September 11th, 2009 at 2:21:11 AM

IF done right... it could be good yes. That's a pretty big 'if' though.

Ey. Dont get me wrong, I f*cking loved Masters of The Universe... Frank Langella as Skeletor is still one of the most bad ass movie villains of all time...

HeMan was a perfect fit for the 80's though, you know... f*cking thunder gods and sh*t... and rainbows and leprechauns and unicorns.. it was such a f*cking 80's fantasy that the film had no choice but to be what it was... A super bad ass 80's thunder metal extravaganza...

Remember how many people had f*cking He Man painted on the side of their vans, back in the 80's...

f*ckin awesome.
rabid writes:

the relaunch of it around 2000 was excellent. The first four episodes of that would make a really compelling movie. He-Man's mother and Evelyn (Evil-lyn) are astronauts who crash on Eternia. You actually get to see Randor's brother Skeldor get his face burned off. Teela is the daughter of the Sorceress. There's a really good plotline in there, but it would have to be epic to make it work.
