Guillermo Del Toro to Make Big Announcement

Posted: September 8th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Guillermo Del Toro to Make Big AnnouncementSubmit Comment
Director Guillermo Del Toro took the time yesterday from working on "The Hobbit" to post a comment on TheOneRing forum about another film project that he is planning to pursue. He didn't give too much information, but at least gave one little clue.

"In a few days there will be a BIG announcement (big for me, at least) that is not-Hobbit related," said del Toro. "BEFORE anyone starts wondering the usual 'how does he have time?, Is this detracting form The Hobbit?' etc It is a project that started over 2 years ago, before The Hobbit and will render fruits in the mid-term, not intruding on my Hobbit duties. Rest assured."

He went to to say: "The key letter is 'D'."

There were talks that he may develop a "Deadman" movie, based on DC Comics property, with Nikolaj Arcel directing. But that news was everywhere, which is why I believe that it's not the project he is hinting about. Or maybe it's Marvel's "Doctor Strange" movie that del Toro has been planning to direct. Stay tuned.

A "Doctor Strange" movie might be cool, but honestly, does anybody out there give a flying f*ck about "Deadman"?

Daredevil? Dungeons and Dragons? Dinosaurs! The Movie? Digimon? Dread: Judge Returns? I gotta know!

Perhaps... Dracula, or Castelvania?.. what would be sweet is a live action "D: vampire hunter"

Correct me if I am wrong but was it not Del Toro's passion to get a Don Quixote picture off the ground?! Might have been another Mexican director but if not...

Dark Crystal remake?

This flick does not need a remake, but Del Toro would slay it if given the chance.

Dr. Strang would be the boobs. Anyone know what studio owns the rights? As long as they make him go up against Dormammu or Mephisto, a character that makes him go up against the dark arts. If it is Marvel Studios they could totally tie him into The Avengers to battle Loki!

A 2005 release date was announced in March 2003,[12] while in June 2004, a script still had yet to be written. Avi Arad was in search of an A-list writer.[13] In April 2005, Paramount Pictures acquired Doctor Strange from Miramax, with a planned budget of $50$165 million.[14] Guillermo del Toro was attached to direct in February 2008, approaching Neil Gaiman to write the script.[15]

In 2009, Marvel is attempting to hire a gathering of scribes to help come up with creative ways to launch its lesser-known properties, such as Black Panther, Cable, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nighthawk and Vision.[16]

Why should he post a big announcement on theonering.com, and then it has nothing to do with The Lord of the Rings World???

Think it's a movie like LotR! Maybe Durin the dwarf :D lol...

I heard it was Deadman, which if true, is really goddamn exciting. Deadman is really popular with kids right now because of the Brave & the Bold cartoon, it's a good time to strike on this one, and the concept translates really well to film.
