"Resident Evil" Reboot is Being Planned

Posted: September 7th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Resident Evil" Reboot is Being PlannedSubmit Comment
"Resident Evil 4: Afterlife" is getting ready to begin production on September 28th in Toronto with Paul WS Anderson returning to direct and Milla Jovovich reprising her Alice role. The new sequel will hit theaters on August 27, 2010 and will be in 3-D.

Screen Gems is happy to be continuing the franchise, but is worried that the difficulty and rising costs of having Jovovich onboard could mean that there will be no other installments after the fourth one.

To solve the problem, the studio is now planning for the fifth "Resident Evil" film to be a quasi-reboot. It is tentatively being called "Resident Evil Begins" and will focus on a special military unit that fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.

The studio will obviously look to replace Jovovich.

What the hell....supercomputer?!?!! Really?!?! They are going to fight supercomputer (again) in a new RE movie. How dumb they are?!

Good dammit, why don't they use this Romero's script?

Here is a thought, base it off of the f*cking games! How are you planning to reboot when the last movie hasn't even been filmed yet? Retarded.
PrevalentMind writes:

Why a reboot?

Just make the games finally. Just beef up the story a little from 1 and 2.

haha yeah Well said AC.

This is clearly all about the money rather then making a good film. The Resident Evil movie series was seriously f*cked in the a-hole by Paul WS and Screen Gems! It makes me sad.

Reboots and remakes these days are totally IGNORANT. Why bother? And with Resident Evil now too? A trilogy of films where the movie stops mid-scene and where nothing at all really is gained and now they want to start over? Well, f*ck you, PWSA! LEARN HOW TO WRITE A PROPER ENDING, YOU RETARD! Either that or for once stop letting Milla blow you while you're punching out your scripts on the typewriter!

SeWerin, you're absolutely right. Romero's original script kicked all kinds of ass.

3D..Seriously? Stop it! why is everything have to be in 3D now? its f*cking annoying. I like this franchise so far and now im worrying. I know its like the new 'trend' or something but i dont like it..

errr...wait what isn't that the exact same premise as the first movie...???

I still enjoyed the movies though...

It's disappointing that the producers/directors/studio executives/whoever didn't ever pick up a single game and play it through. The original games were great and the story line was so much better than the story from the films!

Wow, I came into this thread thinking it was going to be resident evil 1 like with Wesker in the mansion and sh*t. f*ck my life, my day is ruined, and if the Canes lose too, ima f*cking go beserk!

Seriously, the franchise would have been a lot better if they had written the scripts based on the story lines of the games.

Hmmm... Plot sounds too similar to the first movie. I hope it never takes off.

who owns the filming rights to RE? y r they rebooting it with essentially the same story? i say f*ck it and give the filming rights to Marvel. sure they're sellouts but at least they can make their movies true to their source, which is what RE needs to be the success it can be.

How much money can millia jovovich really be making for these movies? They want to re-boot and the reason is because of her massive salary? I like her, but she isnt a big name like jolie or aniston, so how big can the paycheck really be?

Maybe they should make a reboot AFTER the fifth movie..that is what they are doing with the games..and the recent one has CRAPPY controls for a next-gen game (can't run and gun WTF!)..should make the 5th movie with 1990 CGI!)..and then officially REBOOT the franchise and BASE it off the video games..Bring back Sienna as Jill Valentine!!

rabid writes:

god these films are horrible. Just stop the whole series already. Jovovich was the only reason anyone was watching to begin with.

how can you even think about rebooting a series while it's still happening? and how does milla jovovich cost THAT much? i mean, her husband is the director, can't they just discount her or something?
this whole "reboot" fad is seriously f*cked up.
