Pixar to Make Marvel's "Ant-Man" Movie?

Posted: September 7th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Pixar to Make MarvelSubmit Comment
When Disney announced that it was in the process of acquiring Marvel Entertainment, John Lasseter said that Pixar has already met with the comic book company about a possible team-up.

Entertainment Weekly has now written their own take on the deal, adding: "Pixar is said to already be eyeballing an Ant-Man movie." The magazine did not offer any other details.

About two weeks ago, director Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz) revealed that he is "absolutely" still involved in the big-screen adaptation of the Marvel hero. "'Ant-Man' is something I need to return to," he said. "I wrote a draft before 'Scott Pilgrim' started and it's kind [of] on back burner slightly just because I've been busy with this. But it's something that I have got to return to. I have to do another draft after 'Scott Pilgrim' is done."

Well that sounds about right, a live action movie about a wife beater would tank.

Hahahaha

Well done @acslaterson!

Well, it's Pixar. Remember, these guys make Disney movies worthy of being classics, not sh*t for tweens. Bring it on.

I don't want Pixar to make Ant Man... I want Ant Man to be live action
Ranger writes:

@acslaterson - lol.

Not to disagree with Ranma - but I don't mind AntMan going animation. I don't see enough of a character here to make a live action flick (not that live action is only reserved for top-notch superheros... I'm just saying...).

AntMan/GiantMan... what a joke.

superhero movies, remakes, and 3-D films.

Is there no originality or genuine love for film anymore??

"Ant-man"? I like it, I like it. I agree it should be live action and very graphic.
Ranger writes:

@mdp - you realize his power is control of ants, don't you? If that isn't a recipe for a 90 minute snooze-fest, I don't know what is.

@Ranger...good point. I got excited there for a moment.
lostwarrior writes:

I think this is the only way an ant man movie would even work... and you know they wont put in the wife beating and the drinking problems. hell no its disney, and this is what i was afraid of. Disney taking the characters and toning them down...I hope that doesnt happen though...
Ranger writes:
on September 7th, 2009 at 8:26:51 PM

@mdp - thx. for taking my comment in the light in which it was intended. I've known of AntMan for decades. As a stand-alone character there (honestly) isn't much substance. When he 'graduated(?)' to GiantMan... only slightly more interesting. Stick him in the background (at best) in The Avengers... but don't give this clown much more screen time than that.

Oh... and his wife is a cutie with a nice, perky rack!

Ant-Man? Are you f*cking kidding me? Even the Movie Trailer voice guy won't be able to keep a straight face when having to narrate that!
Ranma-Irias writes:

SpookyCupcakes - not to be disrespectfull but you rarely see any original movies being hits! The movies that bring money are the one's that are based of something. There are lots of original movies that are hits but those are old movies mostly, nowadays you rarely see an original movie that actually wins money so I guess I understand why they do this
SpookyCupcakes writes:

District 9 made triple it's budget, and it was original (inb4 the faggots who think that the subtext in d9 was a ripoff of alien nation, because it's not about the subtext, it's about wikus' transformation).

How the f*ck will any of this make sense when they make the Avengers movie? First he's going to be animated, then he's going to be played by an actor?
skatemaster62 writes:

i dont like this idea...and its not that im an ant-man fan. im just so sick and tired of computer animated films. i mean seriously havent we seen enough? disney is WAY over using pixar. i would bet you they tone it down for the little kids, because once again computer animated films usually catch the eye of who? kids! so if there talking a movie for the kids then by all means have at it and send it straight to DVD like "Wolverine vrs Hulk". if they wanna make it right i would say make it live action, and enough is enough with pixar animation. TRY SOMETHING NEW DISNEY!!!

i mean we all saw how cheezy and retarted "The Incredibles" was right. think that but ant-man instead

it would be strange to make an animated film but still be part of the marvel universe we're getting to know. it should be live action or not related to the marvel film universe like IM,TIH or CA. hope it doesn't go live action and then animated like Star Wars. and 1 more note, f*ck edgar wright. he's got no talent and sucks. he should've started on ant man along time ago rather than the sure to be piece of sh*t scott pilgrim starring that p*ssy faggot michael cera.

Now I know that Pixar is known for doing cg animated stuff, but looking on there future developments there is at least one live action movie on there books, so don't count out a live action Ant-Man by Pixar.
VDODSON writes:

f*ck Ant Man, the storyline surrounding the character is unbelievably boring and weak. There are so many characters they can pick, and they pick this lame ass superhero. Who are they going to pick next, bouncing boy?
Sonic writes:

Wrong. They literally only save the unorignal films for summer release. Lets keep in mind that some of this years biggest hits, short of harry potter and transformers.. have been The Hangover, Gran Torino, and f*cking Paul Blart...

Not too mention completely original romantic comedies.. whether or not they're recycled bullsh*t are still usually hitting the mark... Hes just not that into you was extremely successful this year, as well as The Proposal, which i think crossed the 100 million mark...

There is a ton of originality in film making these days probably more so than there ever has been. There's just far more junk amidst all of the masterwork now-a-days...

Look at films like last years Slumdog Millionaire.. say what you want about it... It made a f*ck load of money world wide...

And absolutely with D9... They're still raking it in at the box office.. and its a hell of an original story...

For every ONE xmen film there are usually TWO Eastwood films... For every ONE horror remake there is atleast ONE Michael Mann film....

Comic books films and horror remakes aren't controlling the industry just yet... They're just slowly ruining it.... But thats because there will always be retarded children running around, unfortunately... Im sure that im rambling...

So f*ck all of you...

lots of good points...who knows where hollywood is going with this insanity...i know some people aren't really 'trying' in the writing phases, probably still because of that writer's strike...but even 'wolverine' had no reason to have less excellence on cgi vs x-men 3, even though i hated how they ruined that one as well...the actors were great, but it sucks that they changed so much in it...that was not necessary...they could've added a lot with that realisticness to it but didn't...that's what i'm most pissed off about...even if it turned out terrible, they could've added apocalypse or mr. sinister so we could see and hear them and their cheesy lines too but didn't do it....therefore, they are officially dumb and selfish, the film makers that ruined it i mean

Disney will tone down marvel movies, and that part sucks. however, pixar has done some good things.

Ranger writes:
on September 9th, 2009 at 12:32:20 PM

@dlrippr - I'll disagree (respectfully). I think Disney will run Marvel as a separate entity. Will continue to make superhero movies super. They have Pixar already to make the lighter stuff.
rabid writes:
on September 9th, 2009 at 9:19:26 PM

Why do you say Disney will tone down the Marvel films? Disney has put out some very dark, disturbing, subversive films.
Pulp Fiction?
The Crying Game?
Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down?
Dogma?
Kids?
all produced and distributed through Disney's Miramax. It's really not in their best interests to interfere with such an incredibly hot formula.
