Trailer: Oliver Stone's Hugo Chavez Documentary

Posted: September 5th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Trailer: Oliver StoneSubmit Comment
While working on the George W Bush biopic "W" and planning the "Wall Street" sequel, director Oliver Stone was also gathering footage for his documentary about Venezuela's controversial President Hugo Chavez. We now have the trailer for the new movie, called "South of the Border," and you can check it out below.

The documentary will focus on the opposition Chavez has faced at home and abroad, especially from the Bush administration, which has been vocal in its distaste for the populist socialism espoused by Venezuela's president.

Stone's previous documentaries include "Comandante," about Cuban President Fidel Castro, and "Persona Non Grata," which began as a project about Yasser Arafat but eventually became about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict when Arafat died.

"South of the Border" will make its premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 2nd. It has yet to acquire domestic distribution.

I wonder when Stone's going to make that 'unbiased' look at Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. This guy has a thing for left-wing fascists. Maybe Mussolini's hagiographic biopic is coming next year.

Hugo is a very dangerous man. Homeboy hates a free media and says that education is hold Venezula back. He's removed policies that otherwise would have taken him out of power after a few terms and his last election was probably rigid. I am supprised that left wing nuts love Hugo's nuts.

We little know about the truth and we speak out like we are Gods. Our opinions reflect what the TV tell us everyday and we think we have our own voice. I suggest the movie Beyond Elections: http://www.beyondelections.com . They interviewed many people in several South American countries. We need to listen what people say, not what TV says. Chavez was double elected by popular vote. Do we think Venezuelans are stupid and we are the smart ones who knows what is the best for them? We don't even know what is the best for us. Let's watch Zeitgeist and wake up, my friends. US government and its Corporatocracy are the real monster here. Let's support Oliver's right to show a different opinion in this country. This is democracy, right?

the media only see chavez, as a bad man and a dictator, the real problem in venezuela are his followers that want to used the goverment founds for their owns not for the people, thats the true!

They believe that because he controls what their media tells them!

look, in venezuela there is tv cable and direct tv, if you dont want to see chavez you can change the chanel, the real problem in venezuela is the deputies of the assembly they are robering all the peoples money, Chavez have good ideas but his companions of the goverment are rats, they blind the real vision of the country from chavez, chavez thinks he live in a wonderland, he live a fake reality the senate hide the real problems of the people and take all its money!

Oliver Stone does not care hugo chavez robs the poor selling gas to car owners for $10 cts a gallon. They’re asocialists both http://bit.ly/rWRz7

Does Oliver Stone know that hugo chavez is an oil-autocrat who in 2008 got oil income equivalent to $270 per month for each one 27 million Venezuelans? Probably yes that why he went to see Chavez. http://bit.ly/P4m

As a Venezuelan I can tell you that Chavez is all and even worst than they tell you in the news. My country has gone from bad to worst every single year of the last ten. What Oliver Stone is doing is validating a DICTATOR!!! as a legitimate democratic president.
And for you fflecha, in the first election he was elected because people did not know what they were doing, but from that time on, all other elections where he won have been fixed, and they will keep being fixed because he has the power to do anything he wants, and has control over every single goverment body and industry in the country.

Hugo Chavez is a great demcratically elected president and leader of the nations of Latin America. Its about time someone made an acurate portrayal of the beautiful things that are happening in the region.Dont beleive everything you hear. This is from someone who has actually lived in Latin America. Chavez is no threat to the US, he is just Pan American, and want to see Latin America United the same way the United States united.
