Jon Favreau's Next Film is NOT "The Avengers"

After working together on "Iron Man" and its sequel, Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr are now re-teaming for another comic-book property: "Cowboys and Aliens." Favreau has stated that "Cowboys" will be his next directing gig, which could mean that he will not helm "The Avengers."

Downey has been attached to the DreamWorks/Universal project since last summer, when "Iron Man" co-screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby were working on the adaptation. In the fall, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers), who are executive producers on the project, took over scripting, along with "Lost" executive producer Damon Lindelof.

The sci-fi Western explores what would happen if the traditional Old West enemies -- cowboys and Native Americans -- found the prairie attacked by aliens in mid-1800s Arizona.

DreamWorks will likely release the new film during the summer of 2011.

'The sci-fi Western explores what would happen if the traditional Old West enemies -- cowboys and Native Americans -- found the prairie attacked by aliens in mid-1800s Arizona.' --- ahhh.... the cowboys and Indians would get their asses kicked, I'm guessing?

It's not like Favreau gets to pick whether he directs The Avengers. It has to be offered to him.

Get Scorsese! Then we'd some ass-kicking!

"i think favreu should quit acting and focus on directing. he could end up being a big director someday"

Sure, perhaps one day. Right now, he's doing his Iron Man thing. But he also directed Elf and Zathura, neither of which were either financial or critical box office smashes.

And I'd also credit the massive CG team with Iron Man's seamless CG and the writers for the superb script, both of which made IM such a stellar success.

In short: it's a little too early to start sucking Favreau's d*ck.

Awesome, but Orci and Kurtzman are writing, so it'll be sh*t.
