No Dakota Fanning in Todd McFarlane's "Wizard of Oz"

No Dakota Fanning in Todd McFarlaneSubmit Comment
Todd McFarlane, the man behind "Spawn," is currently working on a "Wizard of Oz" feature film that will be based on his line of action figures. Since the toys are not very PG (check out pictures below), it was strange to hear that Dakota Fanning could get the role of Dorothy.

"I haven't heard that," said McFarlane. "If we just do a sugary sweet Dorothy that everybody has seen over and over for 50 years, as far as I'm concerned, that's too obvious. I'm happy to go with whoever will get the most people in the seats."

It's a good thing that the 15-year-old Fanning is not being considered, since McFarlane said that Warner Bros rejected the first draft because "they wanted it more sexy!"

At this point, McFarlane is working on a second iteration of the script and is looking to "invent some cool new ideas, which basically will surprise people." And even though he knows that his movie "would rock," he doesn't mind toning it done in order to get it made. "I've told [Warner Bros] that the movie I like is the one they're willing to make!"

I can't remember... is there a character in Oz called Skank? Because that could be Lohan's Oscar chance.

Sounds sick. They should use an actress who has a total pristine off screen image and completely tramp her out for the movie.

Obviously McFarlane's never seen Hounddog...

Seriously though. If you want a pre teen rape scene I hear Fannings gold...
Huh? A little Lion, Tin Man gang rape on dorothy?

Thank god. Now all the middle-aged pedophiles can move on.

And all this from the guy (Mcfarlane) that once claimed writing in the comic boox business is a solid second to the artwork. LOL. Yeah, ok , sure buddy, can you explain why Image, with it's excellent artwork and atrocious writing, is in distant forth place, behind Marvel, DC and even Dark Horse?

And its 'sexier', not 'more sexy'.

Damnit, my pre-teen lusting, chronic masturbator self weeps at this news. Now what child actor should I masturbate to? Oh yeah, Abigail Breslin. Mmmmmm...

That or Anne Hathaway.

YES. ANNE HATHAWAY.

I'm pretty sure Anne Hathaway won't sully her good girl image by playing the trollop in McFarlane's steampunk bordello of bestiality.

This is one of those remakes that I'm actually quite interested to see. If they truly adapt it based on the toy line it could be pretty f*ckin cool...or it could be dreadful.

Its really one or the other
murphyslaw93 writes:

@Mink: Watch Havoc and then you'll see that Anne Hathaway will sully pretty anything...which is a good sign.

This and American's McGee Alice the movie would be very refreshing!!!

MacFarlane is an idiot. His opinions on comic book writing vs. comic book art made me lose all respect for him long ago. He HAS made some decent characters over the years, though (Spawn, Venom), so maybe this film will turn out well.

And like mdp711 said, a f*cked up "Oz" film could be terrific.
