Photos: Wax Statue of Wolverine from Comic-ConPosted: August 28th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Attendees of this year's San Diego Comic-Con had the chance to see a wax version of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine from his "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" movie.
The statue made its debut at the convention, but is now on its way to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Hollywood. But before it reaches its final destination, Wolverine apparently needed a haircut and some last-minute touch-ups.
"I'm thriller for Wolverine that he's getting immortalized," said Hugh Jackman. "Let's face it, he's the best he is at at what he does. Wolverine has been beloved by comic book readers, and now movie goers, for over 40, 50 years. He's one the first kind of real bad ass anti-heroes out there."
Check out the photos below to see what looks like a much skinnier Wolverine than we're used to.

Oh, and by the way, I like how they had the skin broken where the claws are coming out. Nice little touch there.

Very talented sculptors, but I don't remember Wolverine having such a preppy haircut or being so skinny.

Yeah this statue definitely didn't take as many steroids as Jackman. BTW its good to see how little Jackman really knows about the character. He's only been around since 1974. Where the hell does Hugh get 40,50 years from?

Yeah, why is he so skinny? If anything they should've made him bulkier!

he looks as skinny as he did in the first movie....when you first see him i mean....and it's not that i don't like wolverine...i just don't like the directions these asshole film makers are taking him...he could be fighting more badass characters...but instead it's always limited with origin stories....do you hear me 20th century fox?...what fans really want is x-men 4...well who am i kidding?...they already know people want a 4th but still won't do it....assholes

They probably could have saved a lot of money just by getting Jackman to be the wax figure in the first place.

@SAC - Jackman's body isn't a product of steroids. It's diet, rest and commitment to a tough workout regiment.
He's not juiced Bro.

it doesn't look real. The damned head is way too large for the body. The illusion is totally broken by the big head, big hair and the relatively disproportioned body.
Like those guys that add Jae Lee/Silvestri detail to their comic characters, but make the guy six heads tall, with the legs three and half heads tall.

He has midget arms too. If that thing were alive and tried to strech out his arms, that would be so fucking hilarious!

I think these guys work with a kit. They have hair and skin paint kits. basically they build these wax models from a recipe. I wonder if there's less art than mere application of refined skill. Get what I mean? Like, they got all the hair and skin tone wrong, but fucked up the proportion, the look, the stance, even the wrinkles around the arm on the left (Wolvie's right arm). So it's like they, the person or person's that created this thing, have flawed or subpar artistic skill, but possess refined and mastered application of the kits they use to make the wax models.
If that makes sense to you. Really, I'm just brainstorming.
furthermore, if someone actually works with these 'things' in real life, correct the misconceptions in my opinions. Like I would care.

He knows a lot about wax sculpting, after all, he is the first living wax sculpture.
Think about it, that's why he needs an umbrella.
