Jimi Hendrix Biopic in the Works

Jimi Hendrix Biopic in the WorksSubmit Comment
Legendary Pictures is developing a feature film about the life of Jimi Hendrix, arguably rock n roll's greatest guitarist and showman, whose performance of The Star-Spangled Banner remains one of the seminal moments of the Woodstock Festival.

Hendrix struggled as a musician for much of the 1960s, until he left for Europe and made his mark. He returned to the US, and as evidenced by filmed performances at fests like Woodstock, Monterey Pop and Isle of Wight, Hendrix changed the game, from his technique to his fashion sense and theatrics that included lighting guitars on fire and smashing them onstage. He flamed out not long after reaching icon status, as his death in 1970 came just three years after the release of the first Jimi Hendrix Experience album, "Are You Experienced."

The script is being written by Max Borenstein, who wrote "What Is Life Worth?," a fact-based script about a attorney Kenneth Feinberg and his work on the 9/11 victims compensation fund. The script made The Black List, but was not sold because of rights issues.

Should be awesome. And Spooky, when talking about Jimi, maybe "not my hit of acid" would be more appropriate. LoL

I heard a while back that Andre 3000 was supposed to star in this. Think about it first before you mock me people! They could make him up to resemble him and Hendrix couldn't sing really so there'd be no trouble for Andre to get Jimmy's "talk singing" down. Anyway.

Only 1 I can think of that fits the bill... in technique is Brian May of Queen. They both have similar builds. There's that 'it doesn't matter if you're black or white!' (Michael... you were da Man!), so I don't know how they'd do this.

Gary Coleman is too short.

go jimi!!...i dunno where the idea of andre3000 playing him came from...but it does sound like a very good idea to me...i mean jamie fox did ray charles...so this sounds very fitting to me also
