"X-Men" Writer to Pen "Wolverine" Sequel

"X-Men" Writer to Pen "Wolverine" SequelSubmit Comment
Christopher McQuarrie has signed on to write the script for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Hugh Jackman is set to return as the Marvel Comics character, a mutant with healing powers and a skeleton laced with the indestructible metal known as adamantium.

The movie's story line will take its cue from the early 1980s Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries, which is set in Japan and features Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai's code of honor and respect.

Jackman recently said that he hopes to have the sequel in theaters by 2012.

McQuarrie is not unfamiliar with the character. The scribe, who won an Oscar for writing "The Usual Suspects" for Bryan Singer, re-teamed with the director to write 2000's "X-Men." Though McQuarrie could have received a credit, he voluntarily took his name off the movie when the final version was more in line with David Hayter's script than his.

So which douche-bag wrote Superman Returns? I know it was a couple guys that wrote either X1 or X2. Hopefully this isn't the guy and maybe it'll be decent.

well this could be a start in the right direction, just wondering who is gonna be in this as well, besides wolvie...

Hmmm... McQuarrie is a talented scripe for sure, so this gives me a great deal more hope for the Japan-based sequel. He sure is a hell of a lot better than Skip 'I'm a flamming homo' Woods. Woods took a pretty damn good script by Troy scribe David Benoiff and pissed, raped, and skull-f*cked it into submission, creating a vile and hideous cinematic stillbirth of a screenplay. I hope Skippy gets raped by a pack of gorillas.

Mackingcircles: douche bag? I love Superman returns, its completely underrated. And that "Douche bag" you speak of was the combination of Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris and Bryan Singer himself.

Might be halfway decent, the main problem with Wolvie was the script and some creative decisions.

Hugh Jackman was the perfect choice for wolverine, hopefully the sequel will be just as good as the original x-men movie, Origins Wolverine was still a good movie, it just was slacking in some departments..

Yeah, lacking in the decent entertainment department.

After Origins, i am not thrilled about the idea of a sequel. But atleast they got a decent scriptwriter for this one.

@Della - If anything...Superman Returns was OVERRATED! Which isn't saying much since it was panned by most people with common sense. Dude...come on...the script blew balls. Bryan Singer and his cronies tried to build a shrine to the Donner Superman and then pissed all over it. I've said it before and I'll say it again...the script sucked, Casting sucked, Spacey played Lex too campy, and the whole thing reaked of a teen drama. "Boo-hoo...I'm Superman but I'm also such a p*ssy I have to stalk Lois and her boyfriend at their home and float outside the house". My feeling is that the only reason they threw the kid and all that crapin was that the main plot was weak anyway. Superman Returns should have never been made and it was a kick in the face to everything that is Superman. Lame, lame, lame, lame!

Sure, Hugh Jackman is great and all, however its all been a huge let down since the first of the X-Men trilogy. It's just continuing to ruin a great comic. Please give up.
