"Sub-Mariner" is in Active Development

"Sub-Mariner" is in Active DevelopmentSubmit Comment
During a press junket for the upcoming "Surrogates" movie, Collider had the chance to speak to director Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) about whether fans will ever see Marvel's Sub-Mariner character on the big screen.

Rights to the hero are owned by Universal Pictures, not Marvel, so don't expect Sub-Mariner to be part of anything Marvel is currently working on. Universal keeps renewing the option for the property, which means that the studio is interested in one day putting together a film.

Mostow confirmed that by saying that the project is currently in active development. The biggest issue right now is getting the script right and the writers have yet to crack the story.

Sounds like sh*t.

A big watery dump.

so once aquaman is talked about...all other sea heroes MUST get made in the world of hollydumbwood

Namor is the sh*t and could have been a cool villain by attacking the surface world with the rest of Atlantis. He could have shown up in Cap's origin as part of The Defenders and then attack the surface right before Cap gets thawed out. A solo movie though with him as the hero? Don't think so, he is an anti-hero.

For God's sake; Aquaman is better known than this spedo-wearin' has-been. Sheesh! But, they made the Blade character two good films, so I guess anything is possible with the right script, performances, and direction.

that's a true statement...but i hate it when hollywood uses that intellect in the wrong movies...remakes particularly

Universal could mean... Spielberg. Then... it'll be either excellent... or suck whale sh*t... no middle ground. Maybe Namor will fight the Goonies for global domination.

I wonder if he smells like Lohan's twat?

Aquaman-whore does, but that's not because of being around fish all day!

Namor having his own movie doesn't sound right to me. He should be all up in somebody else's sh*t.

Oh god be like the John Byrne's Namor, the Sub-Mariner series of the 90's The Griffin and all and not anything lame.
Ranger writes:

Holy sh*t Johnny - you remember John Byrne?! Nice. I thought I was the only only one (and thought his name surely would pop up during the Iron Fist movie news).

@Brando - I hear you. Namor on his own may fall lame. But he'd put ANY superhero movie over the top as the villain. Hollywood... ARE YOU READING THIS?!?!

It's a race to do the first Fish Man movie. PS - I love when people refer to Hollywood as "they."
