We got our first glimpse at Paul Bettany's (The Da Vinci Code) "Legion" thriller during Comic-Con and now we have a restricted trailer from the movie. Check it out below.

Story follows what happens when God loses faith in humanity and sends his legion of angels to wipe out the human race for the second time. Mankind's only hope lies in a group of misfits holed up in a diner in the desert who are aided by the archangel Michael (Bettany).

"Legion" marks the feature directorial debut of Scott Stewart and is scheduled to hit theaters on January 22nd, 2010.

Great, biblical propaganda to please the christians?

I bet you Quaid is one of the first ones to die since he's an Atheist.
FBO writes:

Yeah cuz that's how it works. The one being with enough power to rise up an entire army of angels is unable to cause a brain aneurysm in the one person he wants died. Effects looked cool though

Spooky, this won't please no christian. I've got lots of money that says the Catholic Church goes ballistic over this movie.

why does god need to send down angels to destroy mankind?

why not just blow up the f*cking world?

oh...guess that would make a real short movie and they couldnt waste all that caishe on the cgi

Employing 50% of the Fast and The Furious lead actors is never a good decision. This move will blow by association.
SpookyCupcakes writes:

"why not just blow up the f*cking world?"

Because, That would make things too simple, and in hollywood, nothing can ever be THAT simple!

"I've got lots of money that says the Catholic Church goes ballistic over this movie."

I wouldn't doubt it. They did go apesh*t over how "false" The Da Vinci Code was but they couldn't even look at the fallicious statements in their own piece of fiction.

comment on the fast and furious comment 1 guy who was last movie he was in was transformers 2 and this movie looks pretty badass but more like a B-movie with some A listers but damn i want to see that the ice cream guy is going to give me nightmares i will see this movie for sure

"Finally a movie that shows god for what he really is.... a Badass"

So? There are a lot of other fictional badasses that are a lot cooler than god.
DoucheNozzle writes:

I thought the demon-grandma bit was pretty damn amusing in an Evil Dead kind of way. It surely looks a little interesting, but the effects do look pretty damn cheesy for even a modestly budgeted film. Paul Bettany is in full badass mode, so that is a plus. SpookyCupcakes, I'm sure an evangelical film would frown upon the amount of gore/violence and the f-bomb dropping. This will be as much of an evangelical/preachy movie as The Exorcist, if the trailer is any indication.
takai writes:
on August 12th, 2009 at 11:30:39 PM

Spooky, that comment was a little too fifth grade, even for you.

:P

Oh, and to those that care, AICN is reporting that Universal is going forth with a Battlestar Galactica film with Bryan Singer producing and possibly directing. With Ron Moore not involved. *Hides under bed to escape the wrath of fanboys worldwide* Hehe...
IRONDAN writes:

spookycupcakes i think you missed my point.... there may be cooler badass in other movies but there are few movies that have god as the bad guy... that is what i was saying was cool about this trailer/movie
johndillinger writes:

i like that it has a Terminator feel to it. looks like its going to be a great movie.
SpookyCupcakes writes:

"I like that it has a Terminator feel to it. looks like its going to be a great movie."

I was thinking a bit of kyle reese action when he first arrived.

It might be good, but dennis quaid shooting old possesed old ladies off of ceilings seems a bit, I dunno, cheesy.

Same thing with the ice cream man.

I watched the trailer again, and it looks like a poorly adapted version of a King book.
SpookyCupcakes writes:

Book of Eli and this are back to back weekend openings? That's pretty cool, for the person asking why God just doesn't do the work is because he can not directly interfere. Why do all the angels have black wings? Guess I will find out when I see it.
takai writes:
on August 12th, 2009 at 11:53:27 PM

This movie does look quite terrible. Like I said in a different post, you should check out a mini comic series called the Light Brigade. It's a far more interesting story than this garbage.

It shouldn't matter what 'faith' you possess, you should still be able to see how absurd this story/plot is.

Quaid looks much younger too.

This looks great..man it's going to be a busy 2010: Daybreakers, The Book of Eli, Legion, Damage (that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so!), A Couple of d*cks, The Expendables, Iron Man 2...possibly more

Omg, killing in the name of the lord, yes I find that outragous too. I can understand how the church would rise up against this kind of movie. This kind of crusade is something the church would never do ... if you erase everything that happened between 1095 and 1272.

Might be more to it then him dying. Considering if humans die, and they have lived a good live, would they join the army of angels?

people need to realize when these types of movies are made its not usually the directors beliefs or anything like that but simply made for pure entertainment. and thats why this movie will not get a big box office number. its stupid how people act just cause of a MOVIE. anyone can believe anything they want and thats fine but need to realize its ENTERTAINMENT
Space_Ghost11 writes:
on August 13th, 2009 at 11:16:36 AM

well, that was Interesting? I mean some parts look awesome and others just f*cking cheesy and stupid. I mean the first 15 seconds with the Ice Cream truck and the guy with spider legs - Come on?! really?! Arent we over this weird-ass morphing demon sh*t. I think whats f*cked up here is they make the angels looks awesome and the demons spider zombies like they looked in I Am Legend. Dennis Quade just dosent belong in action films also, I'm sorry I cant stand him. Paul Bettany is always a good actor though and I think he's the only thing saving this from being total & complete sh*t.

I loved that one part though in the trailer with Gabriel,

"I knew he'd send you Gabriel, you were always so eager to please him."

"Unlike You"

How can anyone think this looks good, it's just the same cheesy bullsh*t we see year after year, even if it has got angels and a biblical theme. yaaaaaaaawn.
mattcl23 writes:

looks badass.
SpookyCupcakes writes:

"would they join the army of angels?"

OH SHI-

That might be really interesting to see. Especially if he's an Atheist, right? Maybe this'll end with Satan coming up and his demons helping the human race, then at the end of the movie, Satan is held in high regard, and God is considered evil.

Hopefully, because if that's the case, then I'll be proud to own this movie in my dvd collection.
Popcorn101 writes:

Ok, I'm going to be honest, I don't know what the f*ck was going on, lol. It looks pretty good, with some good casting...I like Tyrese, Quaid, the good angel guy, and the actor who play Gabriel(i think thats the guy from Smokin Aces).
