Three Studios Competing for "Kick-Ass" RightsPosted: August 11th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

It seems that everyone who had the chance to see the four clips and trailer from the upcoming "Kick-Ass" film have nothing but good things to say about it. Now, THR is reporting that three studios, who refused to acquire the movie during its script stage have now reconsidered.
Lionsgate, Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures are currently trying to acquire "Kick-Ass," which Matthew Vaughn financed independently after some studios found the project's violence too graphic and some of its dialogue too profanity-laced.
"Kick-Ass" centers on a high school dweeb named Dave Lizewski who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he eventually runs into real bad guys with real weapons.

Mathew Vaughn is a badass. When he was first denied funding, he just told them to f*ck off and he would make the movie his own way and get his own funding. Now these guys are fighting each other to buy it due to such a high appraisal at comic-con. Way to go bro, and to do it your own way. Reminds me of Tarantino, and Rodriguez when Grindhouse came out. I can only hope that it does better financially.

Just f*cking glad FOX has nothing to do with this. From what i had seen in the trailer it looks f*cking great, FOX would only find a way to f*ck it up! Either of those three will do!

Ya know...Vaughn would be smart to gamble on this one. At the very least he'll recoup his 'losses'- especially since this is becoming one of the buzziest flicks on the radar- so he should just use this flick ass a brick layer for a successful studio foundation. Keep the distribution rights like Rodriguez, market the thing yourself, and Bam- we have a new Troublemaker studios...
...but they're always afraid to gamble. But Vaughn really should.
On another note Lionsgate is getting awfully stuck up these days with filmmakers eh? Trying to undermine the very same directors who pulled them up from direct to video crapfest obscurity. Where were ya in 97? Nowhere. 2002? Nowhere. Stop pretending your big time. The second you start acting like Fox, your whole world will collapse.

I wouldn't be suprised if Vaughn just distributed copies to theaters HIMSELF!

I hope Paramount doesn't get it, I am sick of them not putting digital download discs with their Blu Ray discs. First "Iron Man" and now "I Love You, Man"! ¡Bastardos!
