Marlon Wayans Still Gets Paid for "Batman Returns"

Marlon Wayans Still Gets Paid for "Batman Returns"Submit Comment
While promoting the upcoming "GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra," Marlon Wayans spoke about his opportunity to play Robin in "Batman Returns" and why he eventually didn't end up in the movie.

"I was actually supposed to play Robin, in 'Batman Returns,' about 15 years ago," he told io9. "But there was too many characters. I was cast, I was paid and everything. I still get residual checks. Tim Burton didn't wind up doing three, Joel Schumacher did it and he had a different vision for who Robin was. So he hired Chris O' Donnell."

When asked about he felt regarding be replaced, he said: "No, look I get why they picked Chris O' Donnell, because it would be messed up to have Batman and you've got Robin, and his bulge is somewhat bigger than Batman's. Batman would have a serious problem with that."

Good for him.

Getting residuals for a movie he didn't even work on. That means that in some weird way Batman Returns helped pay for Little Man?

Hmmm....never thought of that movie getting worse until now! I didn't think it was possible, until you threw in a Wayans brother! This no talent ass clown should have never been allowed in the cast of G.I. Joe (as well as others). C'mon, really??? A Wayans and the dancing guy from "Fighting"??? At least they got Seinna Miller right!

lol... yep. The Company that details my car does the Batmobile when it's in town for the car show. And I commented that I should steal it next time he has it for a 'test drive.' (but that was a few years ago).
minkowski writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:28:34 PM

Be careful, Ranger, some of these guys are too weak to handle even the whiff of a 'racist' joke. And I know you weren't being racist.

In 1999 an aide to the black mayor of DC was forced to resign after he used the word 'niggardly'.

It's really sad how pathetic people can get over a joke, a mere word or especially a gross misinterpretation of what someone said.
Ranger writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:33:30 PM

Thx. Mink. I seem to remember that story out of DC. It was commented (not picking on you SAC... just saying) that my sexist comments are OK, but to stay away from racial. My sexiest comments could be just as offensive to some. There's no pleasing all (and I don't/can't try). So, my detailer had pics in his front office of he and George Barris (builder of ALL the Batmobiles) standing next to one-another (in front of... get ready... THE BATMOBILE!). He said he knew Barris and detailed whatever BM's came through for the card show. And THAT's when I made my... 'steal it for a 'test drive!' crack. Ugh. But, thx. again Mink.
Ranger writes:

So... everyone... back to the Machete thread for some Lohan bashing... yes?
minkowski writes:

Why? we can do that here and throw Wayans in too. Not like he's as much a walking disease as her, but...
SACdaddy writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:42:23 PM

Racist or not it immediately inspired another ignorant bigoted comment from Mr. Holy Crack Pipe. That alone should tell you that someone might interpret your statement as racist too. Nobody said you were a racist. I just said racist jokes dont suit you. Meaning, I usually respect your opinions on most things on this website and was generally surprised when something so questionable came out your mouth.
Ranger writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:44:53 PM

Kewl SAC... thank you. As far as 'questionable' coming out of my mouth. I strive for that in every post... lol. I think people taking my comment a racial may say more of them then my (innocent intended) comment... yes?
Ranger writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:46:29 PM

PS: I think the Wayans are hysterical (as I haven't commented on them specifically yet). Keenen stole every scene from Seagal (please... no Seagal bashing yet... I'm just making a point) in The Glimmer Man.
minkowski writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:50:53 PM

It's only questionable if you jump to conclusions without questioning the poster regarding his or her original intentions. Which is what you did.

In fact, you immediately accused Ranger of saying something racist, and then when he explained you sarcastically replied 'sure buddy'.

And there's NOTHING 'racist' about the crack pipe joke. It's a total fact of life that black people have a major incidence of crack use.
SACdaddy writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:52:52 PM

No prob still got love for ya. As for the Wayans, they're great for comedy and terrible for Batman. Tim Burton almost f*cked up bigtime!
Ranger writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 9:55:14 PM

That's how I took SAC's comment Mink. But SAC... NO issues here Buddy... otay? As for the Wayans... aren't they ALL too tall to play Robin?! And as for Marlon's comments... I'm not so sure he got paid for not playing. I'm aware of those contracts, but he's not some A-Lister they were afraid they'd lose and not be able to replace. So, I'm not buying the pay for no play deal.
minkowski writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 10:01:32 PM

Dunno, but it all sounds like bullsh*t. Why in hell would Burton of all people even remotely consider casting Wayans as Robin? Burton? Tim Burton??

And according to IMDb, Wayans was considerd for the RIDDLER, not Robin.
Ranger writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 10:04:02 PM

The Riddler would make sense over Robin!
minkowski writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 10:08:37 PM

Well, they could always cast Marlon as Batman one day. He could even have the name 'Bruce Wayans'. I think it could work out well on that level alone.

Not that I'd ever see it...

Then heavy people would have been offended. So... like, crap. Nothing is safe anymore?! My world is crumbling beneath my very feet!!!! Alright... I'm disembarking from the sensitivity train right now. If I offend ANYONE now or in the future... GOOD! LOL! I don't care if you're tall, short, black, white, green, skinny, fat... minkowski writes:

Isn't funny, though that the same people that call a post racist, due their own limited ability to either read or think, are usually the first to hurl insults at what you look like or where you live. in other words, it's ok for them to attack you personally if they get pissed, but a 'politically incorrect' joke in good fun is equivalent to wearing a white sheet and saluting der fuhrer.

Have you ever noticed: it's perfectly ok to viciously attack the rich, Christians or white people (doing so earns you applause), but don't use the word niggardly or make a pun through the observation of someone's ancestry.

What a f*cked up world.
minkowski writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 10:41:20 PM

So how about them Wayans brothers?
Ranger writes:
on August 5th, 2009 at 10:47:32 PM

Yep. And I have (for example) repeatedly on here defended the wealthy. I figure they earned it. I worked in a bar one summer (the toughest in town... also the most popular), after being laid up for almost a year with back surgery (all the more reason your Lohan, snap her back joke was all that much more funny to me!). I was younger... out of circulation for a year (could get out of bed for an hour a day in a steel brace). Worked 2 other jobs (Oil Co. under contract) and a College... the bar was the fun/social job. I was working 90 hours a week... as 20 of those hours were going to be in a bar, I may has well have been getting paid (which I did). Bottom line to all this OVER SENSITIVITY, and PC bullsh*t that's been layered on us worse every decade (try to make a show like All in the Family THESE DAYS... yeah, good luck with that!), I learned ONE THING working in that toughest bar in the city - EVERYBODY is OK, unless they try to take a swing at you! So from THAT comes my not giving a sh*t if someone is white, black, asian, hispanic/latino...(all my friends are all of those races anyway). I don't give a sh*t... UNTIL, SOMEONE plays that overdone racial card. So... thx. for staying awake for this page from my life... lol.
KROQ writes:

minkowski writes:

"he also doesn't like n*ggers in his movies"

That was my take, thinking about the claim by Wayans. I mean, have I ever seen a black guy in a Burton film? Ever?? But I didn't want to say that.

And that's fine by me too. Black people can have their own movies and not include one single white guy. I really don't give a sh*t. A person's racism is their problem, not f*cking mine, unless they try to either project it on to me or they get violent. Hey, you don't like white people? That's TOTALLY fine by me, just leave me the f*ck alone.

The whole poltical correctness thing is garbage. You can't even quote facts, f*cking statistics because it seems everybody has a bug up their ass. Shhhh! Don't talk about those people, or these people. Don't criticize career women, or black urban crime rates or illegal immigration. Let's not talk about the issues so we can AVOID the issues and no one gets theit precious little feelings hurt.

But hey, look at the successful church-going well-dressed polite white dude! Get him! He's the devil! He's a greedy, arrogant, nerdy child-molesting evil racist. That's seemingly how a lot of people think. It's the same sort of sh*t the communists would use to silence critics.

And then some useful idiot invented the word 'homophobe' just so they could label anyone that even THOUGHT about making a gay joke a fearful, closet-hidden homosexual. They turned the whole f*cking language into a gag.

And you can't say 'queer' anymore, even using the word as it was originally defined. Gay people once demnade to be called queer, now using the word is a 'hate crime'. Hell, a minister in Canada was BANNED from public speech for criticizing homosexuality, and that's the future of America. And I have absolutely nothing against gays. Just don't kiss me on the lips or stick your d*ck in my ass or mouth. K, thanks.

And Ranger, I hope your feeling better dude.

@Minkowski: Rich people, Christians (incident with the Romans aside), and white people haven't been enslaved, beaten and raped for hundreds of years. They haven't been tortured, mentally destroyed, or conspired against in an attempt at genocide either. If there's anyone that needs a lesson about rational behavior, it is you. Some jokes are just tasteless. Period. Behaving like a racist doesn't require that you kill someone. If you can't understand these things, then you are not mature enough to make the ridiculously long and political posts you've made in this thread. @Luminus - in Mink's defense (and he certainly does not require my defending), he was just watching my back... gearing down some thoughts (and adding some of his own) directed towards me for something I said that was taken (maybe) in a sensitive (or overly sensitive... maybe not) way in which I did not intend. Hey... Lawyers invented the long, drawn-out, charge by the hour word. We're just playing along.

Ranger writes:

That topic aside. There is an over-sensitivity (I believe) being built into society these days. Work from home, communicate via text messages, emails... less from the phone. Human contact is going out the window (unless I'm nailing some lucky skank... know what I mean - oops... I'll bet THAT comment will offend someone). So this lack of human contact is making people (most/all people) more sensitive to comments than were I standing in front of them, toe-to-toe and they could read my body language, hear the inflection in my voice (knowing I was joking most of the time), etc. Plus people have this built-in safety to type angrily at others whilst in the safety of their own homes. Things they'd unlikely say to the other person were they there face-to-face. I think there should be MORE acceptance and respect of others opinions... even (especially) if they differ from your own, and a whole lot less judgment. And I don't think Archie Bunker was a bigot. He was just ignorant of what being a bigot was. Some people look up to the night sky and see stars... others just see the dark night sky. Neither is right or wrong... it's just the way it is.

I'm the f*cking king of rational, especially when it's my rationaility compared to yours. WTF are you talking about? Genocide? Against black people? Slave trade was surely no 'genocide' and niether was what happened to the native Americans. Do you even KNOW what the f*ck a genocide is? Do you even know that the VAST overwhelming cause of Native American deaths was through didease they had no immunity to? You take words you barely f*cking understand and dilute them to no meaning in order to fit into your sad little word of victimhood.

The only genocide black people have suffered are the ones they instigate against themselves. Pretty sure Rawanda and Darfur were messes THEY made, not big bad old whitey. And you call yourself f*cking rational? Idiot! You read some blip from a fools guide to history and you think you can lecture me?

"Some jokes are just tasteless."

That's a matter of perspective idiot. When the number one drug among blacks is in fact crack cocaine and when a fleeting minority of the population causes a clar majority of the crime, what may seem like 'tasteless jokes' to you are in fact dark humor and commentary on a sad, sad state of affairs that haven't been ameliorated by Civil rights or vast welfare over several decades.

And it's called free speech. A little protected thing here in the States. f*cking left wing Nazis always trying to silence people, even people they don't understand. And you'd think right wing folks would have the hold on that little tactic.

" If you can't understand these things, then you are not mature enough to make the ridiculously long and political posts you've made in this thread. Just type "boobs!" when you see them, mention MTV and make castles with the sand in your box."

And if you can't take a f*cking joke, or you can't handle criticism or you can't f*cking handle the fact that people cannot have someone cleaning up after them, if you can't f*cking handle personal resposibility then you should go back to living at home. Stick a thumb in your mouth, wear f*cking diapers and have your mother clean your damned nose.

All this time your talking sh*t, not knowing a goddamned thing about history, taking offense, getting so upset because I defended a NON-Racist comment from some shallow people that can't accept the way people, like Ranger, phrase their thoughts.

And it's ME that you think should mention boobs and MTV? Because I don't live in your superficial and non-functional fantasy world of half-assed history? Oh yeah, that's right, I didn't condemn Ranger for a comment he didn't make, so that makes me what in your esteemed opinion? A person that knows about racism, so I should shut up. After all white people just can't know what is's like to go around without any self-esteem because of slavery, right?

There was a comedy show up in Canada called Bizarre (my friend had some tapes of it). It was hosted by comedian John Byner. Now I see on IMDB it may have been called: The John Byner Comedy Hour. A regular skit on that show was (if memory serves) called: 'The Bigot Family.' The Father was the cheap Scotsman. They had a black son that took all the watermelon, hubcap stealing jokes, and a mother, sisters and brothers from any/all races on the planet. And I'll tell you... it was the funniest f*cking thing going! And, AND All in the Family was on back then, The Jefferson's (with his anti-whitey cracks all the time). And everyone just took it for what it was supposed to be. Fun, funny! I know my of my heritage... so do my friends. And when they make a joke about 'my' people. I'm the first one to laugh my ass off! So, gang. let's ALL have fun here. Lighten up... and take it for what it's supposed to be... FUN!

I don't think it's a matter of them understanding Mink. It's like I said in my long post... people don't see to WANT to understand, or because of the anonymity of the Internet, just plain ol' don't think they have to understand. Acceptance (of everything) is the key. The MORE people point out racism... the more it gives power to it. Ignore most things... and like a mis-bahaving child, it'll settle down.

As I learned working in the bar that summer job in the bar (to make up for my 1 year lost), seriously... I learned that everyone is OK, unless they take a swing at you. They argued, postured/threatened, called me names... all water off my back, until they took a swing. Most people haven't been in that position. So they take words as swings (I'll admit... I have too on here at times). People need to take a load off (seriously). They don't have to like some/any/none of the comments on here to heart... but they do (and that's their right as well). But I don't think anyone has the right to say YOU'RE WRONG! Because that other person (in whatever way) is just offering their opinion (or joke), and that too in this FREE forum is their right.

That's the thing. Look at a clear river. Beautiful, pristine. You could drink from it and live long and healthy on it's perfect water. Now here comes some *sshole with a big stick and grudge. The river once flipped his boat and drowned his cat. So he starts to beat the damned thing. Gone is the clearness and cleanliness. Gone is the pacidity. He's turned peace and calm into a rippling storm of mud. He's poisoned the water for all, and he doesn't care because all he cares about is his imagined or exaggerated grievance.

Look, I'm far and away a racist. I think Jews are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I hate no one. I'm far too lazy. But sometimes you have to say what you need to. Some time you have to just let things go. You feel better. A joke is a joke. It carries no weigh. When you give something as trivial as a joke or even a f*cking word, you relinquish ALL power and control and you lose self esteem and respect. Look at the Jews. Thousands of years of persecution and then the Holocaust. What did they do? built a first class nation to call home!

The difference between a loser and a winner is knowing what's important and letting all the other sh*t slide. But people have to make trouble and sharpen axes. C'est la vie.

Ranger, I agree with you totally except for one thing:

"But I don't think anyone has the right to say YOU'RE WRONG!"

Sure they do. Because words are nothing if you let them be nothing. How many times have I been called a racist? When I started posting here, I was called a homo and a homophobe. Dear god, how many times have I been called an idiot? Look, that's not me being the victim, that's MY history just here alone for saying what I want. Expressing my opinion. And it ticks people OFF. and bothers me none.

And you know what, they still tell me I'm wrong and they still call me an idiot. So what? Let them. People like Luminus, who can't even understand what's happening in a simple thread, just told me I'm wrong and he needed to 'correct me'. Now, he can do that all he wants. It flabbergasts the f*ck out of me (in a way that ultimately means very little) that he's so limited and obtuse, but it's his right. Whatever. My ego isn't hurt or killed, and if it was, I'd use that energy to accomplish something to feel better. Constructive criticism is just that. But you have to be willing to hear the actual words, understand them and then react positively in SOME way. Most of the time I just laugh my ass off.

People use it to (sometimes cowardly) hide behind their monitors and lash out in a situation, and/or over a cause, that were I and they standing face-to-face would NEVER use that approach. At least 2 things happen in this heated exchanges that see people addressing others on here in such a way would never happen in person: fear and/or respect (there are others... but those 2 come to mind out of this example). @ranger: Wow, all this over me saying that "racist jokes don't suit you." I feel like we need to have our own little beer summit to chill sh*t out. I was satisfied with your "stolen Batmobile" explanation after hearing the whole story behind it. I found it a little far fetched that you would reference a comment you said several years ago and apply it to a joke now that otherwise could have some racial undertones, but who am I to say how your mind works. Fact of the matter is, if I didn't say anything most wouldn't have made that connection though. And you're right, my reaction to yours and the Crack Pipe "yo" comments do say a lot about me. They say that I am a black man who's probably had (yes another assumption) a little more experience with direct and (even worse) indirect racism than most. Through this experience I've learned that the worse thing people do is let comments of this nature go unchallenged. When nobody says anything these comments tend to snowball no matter what the original intent of the quote may have been. Next thing you know we've got an internet full fledged extreme racism (any doubt, Google Barack Obama) and Jar Jar/Twins bullsh*t messing up movies.

As for Mink, he is what he is. He has the right to defend what he believes just like anyone should. I just find it funny that someone with such an independent spirit seems to be falling into the same "reverse racism" line that many conservative white males are joining these days. Add him to the growing list of Birthers, Cambridge crybaby cops, Sotomeyer haters, and Limbaugh lovers and you start to see that he isn't that different at all. At least I know where he comes. It makes it a lot easier to shrug off his "big BLACK prisoner" jokes. But Ranger, this was my first experience with humor of this nature from you so I was caught a little off guard. No worries though, give me a few more Halle Berry p*ssy licking jokes and I'm OK.
Ranger writes:

@SAC - good post. I'd go down on Halle 'til her head caved in. And as you have forgotten, I was the Champion for Michael Jackson on this very site the second the diddler comments started. And despite appearances... he was a black man. We ALL have our voice on here (we're lucky... thx. Alex!), but I will disagree with you on fighting back with racism... standing up to comments. Most people that tell even racist jokes aren't racist (seriously)! Moreover it's just usually a tactic (sometimes in mixed company) to get a rise out of someone(s). Don't let it get to you, and others will stop trying to let it get to you. Take the higher ground (should you have to... no, do I think you should when you can... yes). When I worked for others, one was a black guy, left the US because 2 of his siblings where shot to death in drive-bys in Detroit. He left the US for a change. I have a black lady friend in Toronto. And the only time she says she feels black is when she goes into the US. How sad are both those comments? Anywho... appointment coming up. I'm outta here for a while.

Don't try to talk if you aren't informed enough about the topic. Most crack users are white (while actual arrest rates are predominantly against black users), this according to NHSDA and FBI statistics.

For all illicit drug use of any type, blacks in fact only had higher use rates than whites in the categories for marijuana use (current and lifetime) and a 0.1 percent higher rate for lifetime heroin use. For cocaine, white use rates are THREE TIMES the rate among blacks for current use, and FOUR TIMES the rate among blacks for lifetime use. Yet for arrests, blacks make up 81% of those sentenced for crack offenses.

And trying to defend someone making a crack joke about a black guy by claiming there's no racial aspect, and then tossing around "lots of blacks use crack" remarks as evidence, only suggest something about your own racial attitudes.

Even in the context of stats about crack use among the black population, why exactly would you think that justifies joking about any particular black person being a crack user? What you're basically implying is that since some black people use crack, it's okay to imply that THIS black guy uses crack. The very fact that you trot out your supposed "stats", thinking black use rates of crack would somehow justify jokes about a black person being a crack user, shows you DO see a clear racial aspect to the joke -- so it's a joke based on the guy's race, joking about a racial stereotype, and you're saying it's not racist anyway.

By that logic, it's okay for any of the black users here to post a joke about YOU, saying "Wow, go get your lynching rope, dude" since hey, a lot of white people ARE racists. I'm sure you'd laugh and say "Haha, that's so true, lots of white people are racists, haha, and I'm a white person!" I suspect you'd instead claim that you "don't approve of ANY racism, including against white people" blah blah.

And I for one don't believe the remark about stealing the Batmobile was entirely innocent and not a joke with intentional racial undertones. The joke makes no sense otherwise, since they cast someone else as Robin. Where's the joke? There isn't one, unless it was about Wayans himself, and that implies a racial undertone.

Likewise, claiming the "crack pipe" remark isn't racist is simply absurd. But yeah, jumping to the defense of remarks about car theft and crack pipes, with the partial "defense" that "blacks use crack", is pretty telling. At least have the intellectual honesty to admit what you really mean and what you really think, don't hide behind half-@ssed excuses.

"I do tell racist jokes sometimes. Those usually target the arabic community instead of the black community. But it's only hurtfull to those people when they chose it to be."

Oh, please. It's not your fault for making racist remarks, it's their fault for being offended by your racist remarks? Bullsh*t, kid. It's hurtful when YOU chose it to be, by making the damn comment. Have the guts to take responsibility for what you say. If you don't want to be called a racist, then stop acting like one. And don't whine or cry when someone calls you a racist, if you want the freedom to talk trash and make insulting racial jokes, have the courage to take the flack you're going to get instead of crying that it's THEIR fault for letting your racism bother them. By your own logic, it's YOUR fault for being bothered by them telling you it bothers them.

And if it doesn't bother you, then don't make excuses and pretend you aren't acting racist. When you do, it's cowardly and it's a a load of crap. Grow up.

And look around, suddenly one guy defends someone's racist joke (after that person initially tried to back away from it and pretend it wasn't racist), and now all of sudden all the little closet bigots (including that original jokester) feel brave and start in with increasing little racial jokes and comments. Cowards roam and talk trash trash in numbers -- it's the nature of bullies to be cowards who only get "brave" and act obnoxious when they think it's safe to do so.

How about you unjam your head from you stupid ass and stop thinking the sh*t falling off your mouth is an "opinion", d*ckhead?

Slavery took place over a solid, non-stop course of hundreds of years, and the total numbers of black killed far outstrips the numbers of Jews killed in the Holocaust. That didn't, however, stop major groups in the U.S. from opposing a memorial to slaves in D.C. since they felt it would "detract" from the Holocaust museum. Or from angrily denouncing attempts to apply the term "Holocaust" rightly to the slave trade. The lack of recognition of the true horrible extent of the slave trade has helped diminish general awareness of it's length and breadth, and of the numbers killed, so that sh*t-for-brains bigots like you can make stupid half-assed observations about it.

Your bullsh*t claim that the obliteration of American Indians isn't "genocide" is another example of why it's unfortunate that there isn't an IQ test before you're allowed to use the internet. Your claim that the word "genocide" is "diluted" by applying it to American Indians is just a sick twisted little bit of insight into your sick twisted little pea brain -- why don't you say what you really mean, that you think words like "genocide" are "diluted" when they are applied to "lesser" peoples. Because that's the real mentality behind the garbage you're spewing, idiot.

Your right-wing, racist views have come out in full view now, with your attacks on blacks and other groups. You're a worthless little homophobic white supremacist, and yeah you include Jews in your white supremacist mentality I'm sure (as has become common among the white supremacist movement of late, to incorporate the rather enthusiastic JDL and other such right-wing Zionists who think of Arabs and blacks as subhumans).

You're a coward, a mental midget, and have no idea what the hell you're talking about -- common among ignorant little e-thug right-wing nutcases. And as has become all the vogue among your ilk, you're a Nazi sympathizer who tosses out the "Nazi" claim at "liberals" and "leftists", I guess somehow thinking it's a clever little cover for your own views. "Or even worse let's talk about how it was LEGAL to KILL a mormon in missouri all the while it was ILLEGAL to kill a slave, so which one is worse: Beaten to work or beaten to death?"

Another example of what happens when you talk before you know what the hell you're talking about.

(1) The "legal" killing of Mormons in Mississippi was under the 1938 order that applied directly to the use of military force, which ended in December of that year and the order lost its legal force.

(2) Legal slavery ended in Mississippi in 1965 with the end of the Civil War, thus 27 years after the beginning and end of actual "legal" authorization to kill Mormons in Mississippi.

(3) The "illegality" of killing a slave in Mississippi was entirely based upon what was deemed "unjustifiable" killing, it was NOT just absolutely illegal to kill a slave.

So when you claim that "all the while" it was illegal to kill slaves while legal to kill Mormons, you're making it sound like it was a broad period of time and overlap, that there was some absolute prohibition against killing slaves, and that there was some absolute broad legality to killing Mormons by anyone anywhere in Mississippi. None of which, of course, is true.

Now, in 1976 Mississippi did indeed have an order by the governor that "officially" revoked the old 1838 expulsion order, but the actual technical legal force of that old order had ended in the same year that it was signed (the subsequent continued actions by civilians to harass, expel, and murder Mormons was not protected by legal authority whatsoever).

It's also rather obvious that your comment about being "beaten to work or beaten to death" is founded upon your apparent woefully inadequate understanding of whatever limited bits of information you might possess. Slaves were not only beaten to work but also beaten to death, including in Mississippi during this time period.

I'd ask why you and others go to such great lengths to try to provide your banal, stupid "evidence" purporting to demonstrate that slavery wasn't so bad and that black people didn't suffer so much blah blah, but I already know the answer -- ignorance, racism, and childish immaturity. You're a group of loud-mouthed, pathetic sh*theads who stink up any message board or thread when you start coughing up your feces on them.
