"Chicago" Helmer to Direct "Pirates of the Caribbean 4"

"Chicago" Helmer to Direct "Pirates of the Caribbean 4"Submit Comment
The man who directed the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, Gore Verbisnki, will not return to helm the fourth installment. As a result, Walt Disney Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have been looking for his replacement by meeting with a number of directors in the recent weeks.

Variety is now reporting that Rob Marshall (Chicago, Nine) is currently in final negotiations to take the job and get the film in front of the cameras by next year, before Depp goes off to make "The Lone Ranger."

And even though Marshall is not officially confirmed, the studio says that things looks good enough that it has already started to cast new "Pirates 4" characters.

Yeah- Verbinski never won an Oscar recently, so that's a step up. I was really disappointed by the last flick, as were a lot of others, but Rob Marshall makes me think it'll be a more focussed film.

Replacing a director of an action/adventure franchise with a director who has a penchant for musicals and lush set designs should work out well. Look at what the Batman franchise became when Joel Schumacher came on board... *Crickets* Just kidding. Should be interesting at least. He has a great visual sense, I'll give him that. But, he in no way, shape, or form deserved an Oscar for Chicago (one of the worst best picture winners in quite a while). And while Nine looks good, remember that this man made Memoirs of a Geisha. *Shudders*

Rob Marshall couldnīt direct a good movie to save his own life... ALL his movies are gigantic pieces of sh*t, and "Chicago" is the worst. Choosing him as a director will drive the final nail in the coffin of this franchise, who should be dead anyways,so I guess no harm done there!

I think it will be interesting to see the fourth installment in the frachise directed by somebody different... Should help the film in not being ecactly like the others... Look forward to seeing where he takes it. Hopefully he wont F**k it up. Haha.
