Marvel on "The Avengers" Heroes and Villains

Marvel on "The Avengers" Heroes and VillainsSubmit Comment
During Comic-Con, Kevin Feige, the president of production at Marvel Studios, was asked many questions about the upcoming "The Avengers" film, including which characters are expected to make an appearance.

"It's going to be Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Nick Fury," he revealed. "I think it's safe to assume that there will be some members of the Hulk universe in the film as well. In terms of the additional, I think Black Widow for sure. SHIELD's organization for sure."

"The Incredible Hulk" director and "Iron Man" writers previously stated that The Hulk would make a great villain in "The Avengers." When Feige was asked whether the green giant will appear in the film, he replied: "You know Zack Penn is outlining it as we speak so we'll see."

Not much of a confirmation, so Chud did a bit of digging and has learned that that the villain may be an entire alien race, called the Skrulls. The characters first showed up in the "Fantastic Four" comics, which means that 20th Century Fox may own the rights.

The site got in touch with Feige and asked him whether there is any truth that the Skrulls will be in "The Avengers." Feige gave a funny look and said: "We do own them." It turns out that Marvel Studios owns the Skrull race, while Fox own the Super Skrull.

The site argues that having The Hulk as the villain may result in only one battle scene. If you have an entire race of bad guys, then each of the superheroes would be given a chance to demonstrate their powers and abilities.

That's got to be the best way to go, it's hard to think of anything better.

"It's going to be Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Nick Fury,"

.... not Hulk?

Is this like some kind of p*ssy way to f*ck Ed Norton over? OR what?

Why the f*ck, was he not mentioned?....

And Neil Fifer was talking to them about Captain America over a month ago. I wouldn't want Feige's job... juggling all this stuff.

what if loki formed some dark army to invade earth with the avengers teaming up to stop them, which is why thor,a "god," would join the avengers.i don't know, something like that. not to mention that tom hiddleston, who'll be playing loki, has a contract to portray loki in more than one film.

Hulk needs to be in this as a Avengers

man i hate the idea of having hulk a villian, why not have him be teamed up with the avengers?
lostwarrior writes:

well the good news at least... NO ANT MAN. And im trying to remain hopeful that they will listen to the fans on this one, and make the Hulk an avenger, if they want to capture him at 1st in order for him to join as well as assist Banner controlling him. thats fine. And probably a good way to start the film, but then have all of them team up, to take on the skrulls..

I will not be very interested in seeing this without the Hulk, and even less so without Ed Norton. I think the Norton/Marvel disagreement was overblown, but Marvel and Zack Penn need to get over themselves. Hulk should be the bad guy for the 1st half controlled by the Leader (hinted at in the Incredible Hulk), who is in league with Loki. Then the Avengers bring in Thor to deal with him. The second half could be about them dealing with the Skrulls or with some other group of villains that allow the rest of the Avengers to demonstrate their powers. It should be a trilogy with Hulk as the bad guy in the first 2 movies then the good guy in the 3rd. IF THEY ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO DO THIS WITHOUT HULK THEY WILL LOSE THE FAN BASE TOTALLY. Am I the ONLY person who wants to see Ed Norton and Robert Downey share screen time!?!?!?!?!

It will probably be a movie about how the Avegers get together and then they will chase the Hulk a little....the Skrulls will come....then they will need Hulk's help to defeat them. The end.

I'm all for Hulk being in the Avengers in some capasity but what's all the fuss over Ed Norton. I just saw the last Hulk movie again on HBO and realized that Norton had about 10 lines the entire movie. Why spend $10mill on him when you can go to Dr. Nick's (Hi everybody!) Upstairs Acting School and get any no name actor to play the role just as well?

Where is Spiderman in all this? Its been a long time since I read any of the comics but doesn't he get involved with the Avengers some way when the world is attacked by aliens. Isn't the Secret Wars series about this?

PLANET HULK animated trailer: http://www.superherohype.com/news/hulknews.php?id=8573

In case you don't know it was a comic story arc where Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Professor X, Black Bolt and Mr. Fantastic, trick Hulk onto a space ship and he lands on this gladiator world. This set up for World War Hulk.

Spiderman is on the New Avengers team, movie rights are owned by Sony. So no, he can't be in the Avengers movie. Wolvie is in the New Avengers too, but once again Fox owns him.

PrevalentMind writes:

The Skrull or Hulk are the only fitting ways to go...I kind of like the Hulk idea though. It gives a realistic reason for why they would all be brought together as a team: Superhumans joining forces to stop a superhuman...The Skrulls are bit p*ssy for several superheroes don't you think?

I'd like both for better conflict, and in the end Hulk could turn suit and help defeat the weaker Skrulls. I mean the only thing that's intimidating about them would be their invasion numbers. They may be able to change form, but they're just as frail as humans aren't they?
Ranger writes:

NO worries folks. They would NEVER do an Avengers movie without the Hulk. Norton's push for his control (like wanting to edit the first movie himself - admirable yes. It WAS to give him (also Banner) more screen time to develop the human side of the Hulk (nice, maybe needed, but not as exciting at HULK SMASH!!!) is the same kind of push that got Buzz Aldrin into the 2nd. spot to set foot on the moon behind Armstrong. Very true... anyone can (and will) play Banner (likely someone else if Norton keeps pushing), but rest assured, Hulk will be in any Avengers movie. Thor, Iron Man and Capt. America are all solid spots on the Team. LOSE Ant/Giantman (UGH!) - a guy that 'gets big' - Wowzers!

I just hope they do a good job setting up The Avengers in the other films so they don't waste precious film time in the actual Avengers movie. I mean with all those supposed stars elbowing for screen/story time, it would piss me off royaly if they churn this out to a 3 hour snore fest with 80% of it dedicated to character development.

The movies will never be "perfect", but the fact that Marvel now owns the rights to some of their own characters is extremely hopeful! Finally, these stories will tie in to each other like they do in the comics. It is so disappointing that companys like Sony and Fox stand in the way of all the amazing tie in possibilities. Fox has caused enough heartbreak. PLEASE, Marvel PLEASE, do what it takes to get the rights to Xmen characters back! Fox blows.

THERE IS NO AVENGERS MOVIE WITHOUT HULK. THERE IS NO HULK WITH NORTON. I WILL NOT SEE ANY AVENGERS MOVIE WITHOUT EDWARD NORTON. MARVEL NEEDS TO GET OVER THERE DIFFERENCES WITH NORTON AND PLACE HIM BACK INTO THE SERIES. THE INCREDIBLE HULK WAS A PHENOMENAL MOVIE AND THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I WOULD GO SEE AN AVENGERS MOVIE WITHOUT THE ADDITION OF HULK AND EDWARD NORTON.
