According to Bloody-Disgusting, Channing Tatum (GI Joe, Public Enemies) has officially been cast to star in "The Darkness" film, based on the Garth Ennis, David Wohl and Mark Silvestri comic.

Plot: On the eve of his 21st birthday, Jackie was targeted for assassination by the don of the New York mafia, "Uncle" Paulie. He finds his body possessed by the darkness, a malevolent spirit that has inhabited his family for several generations, with the benefit of giving Jackie supernatural powers that feeds off the dark.

The new movie will be directed by the Pang brothers, the duo behind "The Messengers" and "Bangkok Dangerous."

The Pang brothers directing the star of Step Up sounds SUPER promising! Look at the fantastic job they did bringing out a subtle and thoughtful performance from THE actor of our generation, Nicolas Cage! * Crickets * But really, this sounds as promising as anal cancer.

I second what everyone else is saying. sh*tty directors directing an even sh*ttier actor? Count me the f*ck out.

Yeah, agreed. Will prob be sh*tty. I wished, for once in their good damn lives, that they could do a movie for especially Witchblade, with sincere will to make it awesome and not f*ck it up ike they have so far (ref. to old one: Uh - a knight suit? Wth?) Sucked, sucked. sucked. Same goes for this one - they're both really cool chars/stories, they could be awesomeness. Tsk. Crappy hollywood.

a) the darkness is a retarded comic which in no way deserves its own movie b)horrible casting as the lead character in the comic is Italian rather than a cross eyed, half man, half Siamese cat type creature.
