"King Kong" Prequel in Development

"King Kong" Prequel in DevelopmentSubmit Comment
Spirit Pictures have picked up the rights to the book "Kong: King of Skull Island," a prequel to the well-known tale of King Kong. The book was published at the same time Peter Jackson was producing his remake of "King Kong."

Penned by Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland, book focuses on the back story of Skull Island and how the giant gorilla became king there. It introduces other giant gorillas and dinosaurs only hinted at in the previous films.

The plan is to produce the film using motion-capture technology such as Robert Zemeckis used to make "The Polar Express," "Beowulf" and the upcoming "A Christmas Carol." Spirit's own facility would produce the CG work.

CG work should only be in kid movies... hence why beowulf sucked ass

I beg to differ. I would love to see some more CGI adult-oriented films. Beowulf sucked ass because of the weak script.

CGI and virtual actors are the future.

wtf??...a prequel??....hahaha...once again...this proves how desperate hollywood is....they feel the MUST have an 'after' and a 'before' to EVERY single story out there....even if it doesn't work...they make up some bullsh*t story to make it work

Hey... maybe Kong really started out as the baby talking monkey at the end of one of those Planet of the Apes movies. Then... Retardo Mentalblock found the time displacement equipment (Terminator 1984) - goes back in time with the baby talking ape, takes him to that tropical island... he gets a hole of GiantMan's technology... and viola... MOVIE HISTORY FOLKS!

HOLLYWOOD... YOU SUCK FARTS OUT OF DEAD COWS!!!!

Nobody gives a flying f*ck about where King Kong came from, they just want to see him throw sh*t around and kill people after he's been captured so it's justified!

And Mink, that's for sure! The new clone wars series is George Lucas masturbating in public!

Make Lohan the object of this pre-pubed Kong's lust. This time though... when he fingers her... he KILLS THE BITCH... BUT IN REAL LIFE... SNUFF FILM BABY... KONG SNUFFS LOHAN! THERE'S YOUR MOVIE TITLE HOLLYWOOD YOU BOX-THINKING, REBOOTING, RE-DOING, UNORIGINAL c*ckSUCKERS!!!!!

The blonde woman in the first one was obviously a slut, she only likes big black d*ck.

Big Black d*ck! - Marvel's next Superhero.

Nice work!

Wow Ted, you're an idiot.

Also motion-capture almost always turns out looking like sh*t anyway.
Ranger writes:

@Ted - I'm NOT picking on your opinion... I respect it. But I liked the 'look' Beowulf had. I like different stuff like that anyway. So, I didn't mind it.

Why not get Peter Jackson to do another live action version and stop with this CGI sh*t.
synthetic1985 writes:
on July 27th, 2009 at 7:51:22 PM

this obviously won't be anything near peter jackson's...but even so...doesn't matter if it came from a book or not...people get offended just by the words 'prequel' 'remake' 'retelling' 'reimagining' 'reboot' etc.

i love CG work, and i accually think if they get a good director this could be good.

Cool, perhaps we'll finally get to see some Kong-sized monkey sex. Admit it, the ape needs it.
