"Dorian Gray" Gets a TrailerPosted: July 26th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
The trailer for the upcoming horror/thriller "Dorian Gray," starring Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) and Colin Firth (Mamma Mia!), has appeared online. Check it out below.
Plot: Based on "The Picture of Dorian Gray," the story centers on Gray (Barnes), a young man who becomes the subject of a painting. As the man descends into a hedonistic lifestyle, the portrait begins to age and morph, but he doesn't. Firth plays Lord Henry Wotton, the aristocrat who corrupts Gray with his worldview.
"Dorian Gray" is directed by Oliver Parker (St. Trinian's, Othello) and is scheduled to hit UK theaters on September 9th. At this point, the film does not have a US distributor or release date.

Was the catch, if he looks at the painting he will return to the normal age and die, or if the painting is destryoed he will die?

In the book, there's plenty of innuendo that the 'sex' Dorian is having is of the 'Greek' persuasion.

I love Oscar Wilde, and I love this story, and I dearly hope this movie does it justice.
It looks like a very "Gary Oldman Dracula" type of ordeal. You know, extra-erotic, super-stylized.
The whole thing has a kind of CGI sheen to it though, which is pretty annoying. I see potential.

"Sending or receiving?"
I think Dorian is a 'receiving
portrait'. He loves lots of light impasto strokes...

I completely agree about Stewart Townsend!
Movie doesn't seem to reach the full potential the book has...I am very disappointed they turned it in just another lame horror movie...
