George Lucas is Highest-Paid Man in Hollywood

George Lucas is Highest-Paid Man in HollywoodSubmit Comment
Forbes magazine already revealed that the highest-earning actor between June 2008 and June 2009 is Harrison Ford ($65 million) and the highest-earning actress is Angelina Jolie ($27 million).

But half of the top-earning men in Hollywood amounted their fortunes for their production work, not their star quality. And the topping the list is George Lucas with $170 million. But how did Lucas bring in so much cash?

Apparently, he was smart enough to hold onto the merchandizing rights to his "Star Wars" characters. He also wrote and produced "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," collecting on a lucrative deal that gave him a significant cut of the film's profits.

Others on the list include Jerry Seinfeld, who is still living off the syndication fees, which earned him $85 million during the last year. Check out the full list below.

1. George Lucas ($170 million)

2. Steven Spielberg ($150 million)

3. Jerry Bruckheimer ($100 million)

4. Jerry Seinfeld ($85 million)

5. Dr. Phil McGraw ($80 million)

6. Tyler Perry ($75 million)

7. Dick Wolf ($75 million)

8. Simon Cowell ($75 million)

9. Bruce Springsteen ($70 million)

10. Howard Stern ($70 million)

11. Harrison Ford ($65 million)

12. Kenny Chesney ($65 million)

13. James Patterson ($60 million)

14. Adam Sandler ($55 million)

15. Larry David ($55 million)

Well... not usually. The ILM thing, the THX thing... holding onto Star Wars completely (except the 2.5% of the first '77 movie he traded Spielberg for the same share in Close Encounters). But for admitting to have a hand in Indy 4... YES! Not too many surprises on this list. Springstein still raking it in. Good for him! I knew Simon (Il Divo, p*ssycat Dolls, Idol) was a + $1 Mil. a week guy, and Dr. Phil (the guy that picks on guys on his show so his wife will give him some) I knew was up there as well.

Got to give it up to Seinfeld and Larry David. These two are just sitting at the crib getting paid to do nothing! They'll have that check comin in for the rest of their lives! $85 mill is some serious FU money!

Im happy for Tyler perry for making that list because the guy used to be a bum on the streets to a writer/actor now hes one of the richest guy in hollywood
PrevalentMind writes:

Yeah nothing surprising about Tyler Perry- when you're part of a group of people who don't get mainstream wide releases you'll flock to see the mediocre crap that finally gets there....I mean you cant expect black people to keep appreciating the direct to DVD films that cater to them. There's only so long you can survive off of 'Who's Your Caddy?' 'Who Brought the Potato Salad?' and JaRule and Mystikal action films.
Stuntastic writes:

@ Prevalent Mind/ Wow!!! I forgot all about Mystikal. But as far as Tyler Perry he actually does make some pretty good movies and portrays Blacks in a positive manner. I must say I was completely caught off guard by the Star Trek cameo though.

wow.. tyler perry makes more than i expected.. he makes good movies even tho i cant stand the t.v. shows.. and evry1 else makes sense because they are about as rich as we make em.. if no1 was interested in star wars then lucas wuddnt b on top.. no need 2 b surprised at n e thing wen u think about it (no offense 2 n e 1 that was shocked by this those still r pretty big numbers)
