"God of War" Movie to Change Ending?Posted: July 14th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Website CC2K claims to have seen an early draft of the script for "God of War," a big screen adaptation of the popular video game written by David Self (Road to Perdition).
The site says that the script "has stayed true (almost slavishly so) to the game's plot." Although most of the changes are relatively cosmetic - satyrs and cyclops are now far taller than they're portrayed in the game. And apparently there is one "significant" alteration made to the source material that may irritate some fans of the game.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
The site also mentions that the end of the script differs from that of the game, with Self's draft ending on an "unresolved" note. "Instead of being offered (and accepting) the Godhood of War after he attempts suicide as he does in the game, in the script Kratos is offered the godhood, rejects it, and casts himself off the cliffs," the site reports.
Just as Kratos is about to die, the script supposedly has him say, "Your turn, Hades...", before it cuts to black. No intervention by Athena, no trip to Mount Olympus, and no Blades of Athena.

that's crap. if they do it that way, how will he be the God of War if they make a second one? speaking as a fan of the game here, I'll watch it, but they ending will disappoint me. but as well, it does sound like a kick-ass ending!

It could be good. I wouldn't believe all you read, because the ending has now leaked on the net, it will probably change like Salvation did.
What would you all rather see as a game to screen adaptation?
Mine would be 'Zombies ate my neighbours' on the SNES.

its obvious they are leaving it open to do a sequel and get more cash, they said it themselves most people dont care which movie they see as long as they are mindlessly entertained.

Well I remember the ending of the first game saying he was the God of War and then showing battle scenes from the Civil War and Iraq. Then the second game came out and didn't follow it at all. I don't think the original ending set itself up badly for the sequel.
