Justin Timberlake and Superman in "Green Lantern"?

Justin Timberlake and Superman in "Green Lantern"?Submit Comment
Today, we have two stories for you regarding the upcoming "Green Lantern" movie.

First one comes from THR, which is reporting that Warner Bros has ordered up two rounds of screen tests with Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Justin Timberlake (Alpha Dog). Other actors in the early mix included Michael Fassbender (300), Henry Cavill ("The Tudors") and Jared Leto (Requiem for a Dream).

The other news comes from "Green Lantern" co-writer Marc Guggenheim, who previously mentioned that Clark Kent (aka Superman) may appear in the film as a crossover between the DC Comics' properties. MTV News caught up with him to follow-up, learning that Kent is one of the many proposed cameos.

"I will say, all the Easter Eggs and the cameos that I put in, I couldn't even begin to predict at this point which ones will stay and which ones will go," said Guggenheim. "I'll be as interested as anyone else to see what we end up keeping and losing by the time the picture is actually locked... and that's pretty far away from now."

I think Ryan Reynolds would be a better flash (barry allen), but from all the names here, i would like him to be hal jordan.

Justin Timberlake in a DC comics movie? Is this that Michael Jackson cameo I've heard so much about?

Reynolds is Wally West and Deadpool. But the others are not that inspiring. Maybe Henry Cavill - we'll see who they get.

Oh great a flimsy Hal Jordan.. just what DC needed to compete with Marvel.

Reynolds is also Hannibal King in Blade 3 so that makes 2 comic characters for him so far, another would be pushing it.

How gay looking is a that pic WP has chosen?

Give it to Sam Worthington!

Green Lantern is great for comics but terrible for movies. Who wants to see guy flying around with anvils coming out of a ring? Thor is a big stretch too. Come on Hwood, you can do better.
minkowski writes:

More than anvils come out of his ring. If he just needed anvils, he'd probably have super strength and just carry a damned anvil around instead of that gay ring.

Cooper hands down. Come on Hollywood! First Marvel f*cks up in not grabbing (True Blood's) Alexander Skarsgårda as Thor and now this unnecessary screen tests from Warner.
SACdaddy writes:

@Mink: yeah he can pretty much create anything with that ring but that's even more reason why this movie wouldn't work. He's easily one of the most powerful superheroes around but its hard to translate his talent to film without looking gay.

Reynolds has wanted to play The Flash forever. If they do GL I HOPE they go to OA for a Green Lantern Corps conference. But I think the writer won't be that innovative and keep Hal tied to Earth like they've done Superman (aside from his trip back to Krypton we didn't see). I suspect one Bradley Cooper's career really takes off he'll dump Aniston like all the guys do to use her vagina for the Hollywood ladder rung it is. As for Worthington... I know nothing about him. But from all the positive comments on here alone, it seems like he would be a great GL. RE: the crossovers. I've said it for YEARS! WHY when Spidey is zipping around NY do we not see Iron Man zipping over the skyline whilst visiting the Big Apple too? f*ck Hollywood... you are the biggest wasters of opportunity I have ever known (next to Lohan-Skank). They're FINALLY getting on the ball with a few seconds of Stark at the end of the Hulk movie... ONLY because the Avengers are beginning to run up their back, NOT because they decided to think outside the box.

Ryan Reynolds screen tested? Isn't he tied up with the "Deadpool" spin-off?
Ranger writes:

No, I think he's busy doing that one man buried in a box thing.

Reynolds working for DC and Marvel

I think it was bound to happen. There are limited candidate to play this superhero genre in Hollyweird. Reynolds can play it all, so good on him.

He'd better not be bringing the Ring back.
Ranger writes:

pretty sad that both marvel and dc comics made kick ass cartoon adaptations that follow the story better than the live-action versions ever could....wish it could have been the other way around on that
lostwarrior writes:

since when did the greenlantern go gay.
Ranger writes:
on July 10th, 2009 at 11:17:25 PM

Right after he used the ring to make a dildo and rammed it up his own ass.
Ranger writes:

Hey1 Maybe Justin can promote it on SNL so that they'll actually have a funny episode!
Ranger writes:
on July 13th, 2009 at 3:13:54 PM

Yeah... him wearing the ring... looking into a mirror, pretending to be GL and starting to cry... lol! JT is one of the best hosts of SNL. A GL skit would ROC!
