"The Last Airbender" to Become a Trilogy

"The Last Airbender" to Become a TrilogySubmit Comment
LastAirBenderFilm had a chance to speak to producer Frank Marshall and director M Night Shyamalan about the upcoming "Last Airbender" movie. But even though everyone hopes to turn the film into a trilogy, Marshall said that he is against shooting all three installments at once.

"We're shooting them one at a time, because they're being written one at a time," he explained. "Night is now working on the script for the second movie, but he hasn't had time to write the second or third ones. He's looking at the arc of all three. One of the things we'll be doing is using the sets, ships and elements for each different nation in this film and incorporating them into movies two and three. We're not waiting. There just isn't enough time. Night will finish this movie, then the script and then we'll prepare for the next one. I think it'll probably happen over six years."

Shyamalan added: "The Last Airbender will be a very entertaining movie, a really fun summer film. But underneath that, it's serious and talks about genocide, balance, our connection to the planet and all those things that interest me if you've seen the other movies that I've made. It felt like an important film."

Over six years to finish??? wft?
Dear 12 year old aang will be over 18 when he's in the third movie. The entire story in the cartoon had a storyline just under a year right? What the h*** are these guys playing at? Oh! they are gonna ruin this.

Ughhh...I hate all these intended trilogy nonsense. Concentrate on making ONE goof flick- THEN announce a trilogy...do they think this is a good marketing tactic or something? Would more people go to see the first Airbender IF they thought two more films were coming? Well- either way I still think you should make one great film before announcing two more flicks on an unproven film.

Bad title then...Should be called, The One next to the last Airbender"

NOTE TO SELF: Come out with "AirBREAKER" movie-and clean up $$...

Well it makes sense... Avatar took place over the course of three 'books' so is this really at all unexpected? Plus Shyamalan was saying that before he even started, that it would be a trilogy.
