Guy Pearce in Guillermo Del Toro's "Afraid of the Dark" Remake

Guy Pearce in Guillermo Del ToroSubmit Comment
Guy Pearce (Memento) is in final negotiations and Bailee Madison (Bridge to Terabithia) is set to star with Katie Holmes (Batman Begins) in "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," Miramax's supernatural thriller being directed by Guillermo del Toro's protege Troy Nixey. Del Toro is producing.

"Dark" is based on a 1973 ABC telefilm about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with demonic creatures.

Madison will play the girl, who discovers the creatures and is fascinated by them -- until they prove dangerous. Pearce will play the father, an author frustrated by his daughter's tales of monsters, not believing her even when his girlfriend (Holmes) backs her.

Del Toro and Matthew Robbins wrote the script. The movie is set to begin production next month in Melbourne, Australia.

About time he is getting some high profile work, maybe from his latest role in The Hurt Locker? I am glad regardless, I just hope it doesn't turn into another "The Time Machine" :-0

Hey look on the bright side, maybe Time Machine saved this Guy from becoming just another Hollywood statistic like his Aussie mate Hugh Jackman. I doubt if you ever see Pearce making Miley Cyrus films.

Hope it's as good as Pans Labrynth... now THAT was amazing.

Good god how many projects does DelToro have going on what like 11teen hundred or somesh*t. I mean the man is real good. I rewatch Pans Labrynith the other nite and am still amazed at how beautiful it was filmed. He is definitely some one who has meaning and goals when it comes to film making but still man. How about this guy just does one project at a time.

Del Toro has a lot of work on his plate, but Guy Pierce is awesome, I like him in everything that he's ever done, I don't see this role being any different it sounds interesting.
