Video: Nike Ad by Director of "Alien" RebootSubmit Comment
20th Century Fox is currently trying to reboot the "Alien" franchise and director Ridley Scott is more than happy to help the studio do that, but only as a producer. He instead hired commercial director Carl Erik Rinsch to helm, but Fox is only interested in Scott bringing the legendary monster back to the big screen.

Rinsch is currently romantically involved with Scott's daughter, Jordan, and Fox may think that Scott is trying to do a favor for his future son-in-law. But before everyone makes up their minds about Rinsch, take a look at his spec commercial inspired by Nike.

Called "Exploit Yourself," the ad is made to "show off the nerve and spark and freshness of the city with the strength and power of modern sport competition, all in a whole 3d environment.

Fox, reinventing the original Alien film? Yeah, ok, good luck with that.

Well it at least proves he's a modern director with a good youthful exciting sensibility.

based on the commercial he should make the I Robot reboot I'm sure they'll start planning soon.

Something about this commercial screams Chris Cunningham to me.

IMO, judging by this video he is helping Rinsch more than just a little. I pass on the shaky cam, no thanks.

Good and the remake should not happen.

Guys - a spec commercial usually mean the guy did EVERYTHING by himself in order to get money for an ACTUAL commercial... this isn't official Nike- it's a pitch. So imagine if it actually had Nike's money behind it. Whether he remakes it or not- that work was pretty awesome. 'Inspired by Nike'- not paid for and made by. It's beyond impressive.

Hmm. I thought it was pretty well done. Not sure the visual style is necessarily right for an Alien movie, but could be interesting. Personally, I'm behind this movie. Ridley Scott being involved is what makes me think that it won't end up being a complete waste of time. And besides, it can't be worse than AVPR. Good lord was that thing bad.

Work done by a professional robot on a closed coarse, do not try at home. Man this dude love his robot comercials, I bet his dream project is like Voltron or Gundam or something lol.

The ad has a great feel to it but I don't forsee that translating well to the screen...Since FOX seems to hire people for their talent and then strips it from their work only to keep the name.

Ok. So because he has created an iRobot/District B13 nike commercial, he can handle Aliens? Sorry. I. Don't. Think so.

wow...for being all 3D this is really impressive. i think this guy is awesome.
