Iran Uses Lord of the Rings Against ProtestersSubmit Comment
Iranian people are currently very unhappy with their government and with the recent election. People are taking it to the streets to voice their disapproval, but are met with live ammunition and extreme violence that has caused the deaths of many protesters.

So to quiet the people and keep the peace, the Iranian government decided to take out the big guns... "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

During a normal week, citizens are treated to one or two Hollywood movies, but to keep them in their homes and off the streets, the Iranian government is airing "The Lord of the Rings" on Tehran's Channel Two.

wow. Great, it may save lifes, but I hope this doesn't stop them from demonstrating.

''One ring to rule them all'', now it actually makes sense. If they continue protesting will the Iranian government break out Mujimibad Gandorf to roam the streets?

When will they show "300"?

LOL!!!! Holy shit that's funny in an evil way. Maybe this will restrengthen the Iranians' resolve to fight against their Sauron (The Supreme Leader Ali Hoseyni Khāmene’i) and his Saruman (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) & Orks (Revolutionary Guards & Basij).

@JohnnyNeat, the irony that's involved with them showing a movie about how people banded together to overthrow an evil dictator is pretty hilarious

and you know what's funny about hollywood?...they always make any traumatizing events that happen into feature films...i thought they would've waited before doing a film based off world trade centers....but damn they really cannot resist
Ranger writes:

So, they gave protesters a choice? Die in the streets, or die at home, either from boredom or suicide? Bored of the Rings they should call it. Yikes, what a waste of celluloid. Well, at least their government gave them a choice. See, extreme Islam isn't so bad...

what is really funny is that the dvd black market is huge in iran, and im sure everyone there has already seen the uncut version
