Nimrod Antal to Helm "Predators" Reboot?Posted: June 23rd, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
AICN recently learned that director Neil Marshall (The Descent, Doomsday) is one of seven directors being considered to helm Robert Rodriguez's "Predators" reboot.
LatinoReview is now reporting that director Nimrod Antal is also on the list. But unlike Marshall, he is the top contender to get the job.
Hungarian helmer Antal made his breakthrough with "Kontroll" back in 2003 and then followed that up with the horror film "Vacancy" in 2007 and the thriller "Armored," which will hit theaters in September.

It was- and on this site too...Not understanding the recycled headlines- then again this site has a huge boner for the same cycle of stories: Aliens sequel, bashing Michael Bay, Batman sequel, bashing McG, Avatar, bashing M Night...

I don't recall seeing an article with the possible director attached. Prevalent, do you mind linking me? Pretty sure this Nimrod guy was never mentioned before. Thus, it's news.

Yeah just keep hitting the "prev" and you'll find a similar article that lists the 5 directors they had in mind after RR bailed. The only thing new in this article is the fact that Nimrod is top place...but we already knew he was on the short list.

I thought Rodriguez was directing this! Now I'm not so sure how successful or good this will be. Just fucking kill the series if you're not gonna have a decent director. "Vacancy" blows! The Descent was awesome though, get that guy!

Rodriguez never bailed, he was always meant to be the producer on it. I just think some sources assumed he was helming.

Yeah he bailed from the directors chair because of other commitments- but he said he was more than thrilled they let him stay on as a producer...because lets face it- Lawrence Gordon and Joel Silver are two of the best movie producers out there. RR's involvement has me worried a little- he loves the digital world and finding cheap ways to do things...but Predator was best when everything was natural and practical. Digital violence just doesn't have the impact or real props and effects.

@Prevalent Mind, I completely agree, although his part of grind house was great and the cgi was well placed. But Predators needs to be natural, and it also needs a descent role for Arnold, (which i believe the script has)
