"Taken 2" is Now in Development

"Taken 2" is Now in DevelopmentSubmit Comment
Producer Luc Besson has announced that EuropaCorp has initiated development on "Taken 2," the follow-up to this year's Liam Neeson starrer.

The first film revolves around a former spy (Neeson) using his skills to rescue his estranged daughter, who is kidnapped and forced into the slave trade. There is no word whether Neeson will return for the second installment.

"Taken" took in $145 million domestically and another $77 million internationally for a total of $222 million. And it also became a huge hit on DVD and Blu-ray, topping both the sales and rental charts.

Good. Even neutered down to PG 13, this was still one of the best movies so far this year.

Best news I've heard all week and they should keep the rating R like the first movie (it was rated R in the European version, which is the one I watched)

I really enjoyed "Taken", it had lots of action and it was straight to the point, hopefully they keep it that way and bring back Liam.

Why? The end was a joke. I mean he drove through perfect traffic, jumped on a boat at the last moment to one two move all the bad guys just so we all could watch as the characters forgot completely about the daughter's drugged & whored out retard dead friend just so her mentally retarded Paris Hilton clone Britney Spears wanna be ass could get a singing career. Weak, f*cking weak. Oh and f*ck the wife character, purely written as the source of how their daughter is a material minded moron. You know what? I like Liam, but if he must do an unneeded sequel, he should tell Besson & ghost writers to write it better, seriously.

@bluemeenie - that's what I was thinking. I like Taken a lot, but didn't see much (any) room for a sequel. As much as I enjoyed it... I wish Hollywood would end good stuff where it should and TRY to come up with something new and original (I know... laughing at that one myself).

"Now listen to me very carefully, this next part is important. They're going to take you...again..." or: "I STILL have a particular set of skills..."

Hopefully they will cast decent supporting actors this time, even Famke was horrible! Action was this movie was up there with the Bourne films(my favorite trilogy). As long as it isn't called Taken 2, give it a different name! I like when a sequel has a different title.

Drop Neeson- this sequel is a bad idea. If Neeson is cast it'll just ruin the first...plus Neeson will probably say no- I mean the studio did shelf Taken for more than a year thinking Liam Neeson was old hat. They had to literally fight and beg for an American theatrical release while the movie was pirated for over a year and the film was STILL a huge hit when it finally came out in American theatres......and I wouldnt call this flick neutered. Neither have any heavy foul language and truthfully both versions are almost identical and you wouldn't know what one you're watching. Its a heavy PG13.

This sequel is such a bad, BAD idea! Leave it alone with a very entertaining first installment. Thank you. Move along. Something new please.

R rated version was much better but Neeson was good enough to justify another. f*ck off with this PG-13 sh*t though!
