Of COURSE he'd want to do it.. hell who wouldn't want to be in a Chris Nolan flick? Make this happen Warner Brothers.. WHATEVER it costs.

Viggo Mortsen for Riddler, Michael Chiklis as the Penguin. Two guys who can plausibly fight with Batman.

How can he be excited to play the Riddler in Batman 3 if he has a hell of a project in his pocket? He already has two big films to shoot/act, and he also thinks about being the Riddler? Kidding, he's just asked about his opinion, and he answered it. But sad that he didn't mention Jim Carrey - he was great for Riddler too!

@BobMcBob: He said that he wants to do the movie, but has he's busy with many other projects and doesn't want Gilliam to wait 3 or more years for him. He feels its not fair to Gilliam.

call me crazy but wouldn't it seem possible that he could play joker if needed to recast.i mean just slit his cheeks throw on some of his usual white make up.hes a good actor. not to mention they both have that girly look.

Heath Ledger was a newbie to the villian archetype- Nolan's looking for new talent that defines itself. Maybe we should start thinking of what actors COULD define themselve in a role like this, but haven't already... ... Viggo was a nice choice though...

If ypu read the recent graphic novel "Joker" by Lee brajemo and Azzarello you will see a very "Captain Jack" take on the Riddler so Johnny Depp would not be too far removed from reality. I could definatly see Depp

He'd be perfect as the Riddler or any other villain. Maybe that would give Tim Burton a reason to come back and reclaim HIS series. Burton can out direct Nolan in his sleep. The original Batman was better (Burton's unique vision not based on tv show or comics), darker(Batman has no problem killing people), and shorter(not even 2hrs) than these new films. And, most of all, Jack was a better Joker than Ledger!

johnny_boy...i'm with you....i can totally see johnny depp as replacing the joker instead...and get somebody else for the riddler...or...how about he plays both?...holy fucking shit that would be insane

that's what should happen....spread rumors of him replacing the joker...not in a bad way, but in honor of carrying on where heath would've possibly went with a continuation of it...it's not hard to figure that out....and besides, depp is already filling in for heath on dr. parnassus...i say why not?...has that idea been tried?...maybe it should be mentioned to them somehow....but that's just my opinion

synthetic1985 writes: on June 24th, 2009 at 12:16:20 AM
that goes for you too nolan....that's a potential idea you can work with...it's painful enough...but if heath were still alive, you know he would've been right there for another batman...so that's why i say that idea should be tried...depp as both riddler and joker...it can be pulled off

I don't want him to do it if Nolan and Bale don't come back. I hope Warner Bros. isn't trying to rush this. They should just give Nolan and Bale time to decide for sure.
