Christian Bale Says "Batman 3" Might Not Happen

Christian Bale Says "Batman 3" Might Not HappenSubmit Comment
MTV News had the chance to ask Christian Bale about the current status of the third "Batman" film and the recent rumors that director Christopher Nolan may not return.

"I truly don't know if we'll ever see another Batman movie," said Bale. "[Nolan] would need to find a story that was good enough. And he can't find that, than it won't happen."

It has also been rumored that Warner Bros already put together a list of possible replacement for Nolan. When asked if he would return for a third "Batman" movie without Nolan, Bale said: "I don't even want to think about it. I don't know if there will be a third."

Don't blame the guy, no Nolan.. no great batflick to close out the series. If Nolan can't do it Warner is in deep sh*t because Bale doesn't seem to have the heart to go further without Nolan and that means recasting or waiting another decade to reboot, etc... Gah hope Nolan returns.

with or without nolan and bale, WB still want make Batman 3

It's only because the rumours are coming faster than Nolan's upcoming movie, which he is currently shooting. After finishing the production of Inception (this was the name?), he would probably take deeper thoughts and ideas about Batman 3 with his brother and that guy they co-write with. The problem is, everybody asking about a new Batman movie for "now", media wants a confirmation that Nolan would return for the third installment. But that guy has ONE BRAIN to use and think about, and he is using it for Inception.

its sad to say but i think i may have figured it out! Nolan is just building up hype so his inception movie may have a big turn out by alot of fans showing up intending to give him a reason to come back for BM 3.and if he decides to after making us wait long then we'll wanna c it more. its all about hype.lets face it. as great a movie as the dark knight was it wouldnt have made those numbers without heath ledger's sudden death.

pure speculation, clear that they are going to do another batman without nolan or without it bale clear that it going to happen!

Money talks but I hope Nolan can pry open all of the stories written about Batman & Company to find at least one solid to work off of. Plus Joker can be recast and acted in the same vain as there were two Jokers in continuity.
Johnny Neat writes:

By the way, I give the job of Joker II to Johnny Depp. With Nolan as his direction and Heath as his spring board I see great possibilities. Joker would have even more reason to really go nuts for a final Batman v. Joker showdown for all the cards.

Maybe Batman could fight Spidey's Lizard. Marvel sure as hell isn't using him.

I saw Bale's wife going after the Paparazzi at an airport on TV last night. Then Bale (good hubby he is, joined in on the attack). No wonder he's so cranky on the set if he comes home every night and has to crawl on top of a bitch like her.

Killer Croc would be cool, too bad Nolan f*cked his Batman universe by making it too realistic with no chance of tying it to the rest of the DC Universe. Still, I hope they make a sequel(which will not do nearly as well at the box office though).
Ranger writes:

@acslaterson - wait! You're saying DC has a Croc villain just like Marvel's Lizard?! Are you kidding me?!

That is one of my favorite villains for Bats! That is why the movies put me off because they are too realistic and eliminates half of Batman's rogue gallery.

Bale is a Idiot. if he doesn't return just cause. Nolan won't do batman 3. they're are plenty of directors out there. that could do Batman 3 just fine! but I Not sure I'll mind if he doesn't return. as long as they get a good actor to replace him (cause imo he does not do a very good batman.
Ranger writes:
on June 23rd, 2009 at 12:53:28 PM

Batman is such a strong character...they don't even need Bale. There are plenty of Actors that can (and have) pulled off Bruce Wayne/The Dark Knight just fine.
Luminus writes:

This is all part of the viral marketing for Batman 3. Nolan is CONTRACTED to do a third film, so all this speculation about it not happening is bull. They want you to eat, sleep, and sh*t Batman 3 and one of the best ways to do that is to make you fear that it won't happen.
mattcl23 writes:
on June 23rd, 2009 at 4:11:49 PM

C'mon, how can they not find a good story. Look back at the comics and put your(Nolan) twist on it. No one is expecting you to make a far better sequel to TDK. I honestly don't think it can be done, but you can make another great batman movie. Without these two we will probably see another reboot which would suck.
SACdaddy writes:

Lose Bale and the series can go on (just dont replace him with Val Kilmer). Lose Nolan and the series is dead.....for now. Next time, lose all the Brits (these were basically British films). American actors are broke these days!

i agree with what was said about batman being TOO realistic...it does take away elements that could have been administered better...but they always want it in a way that works realistically...geez...next time they reboot batman, they should just try going all the way true for once...is it really that hard?
BrandoFresh writes:

Well this really blows. Especially since Johnny Depp has actually expressed interest in being the f*cking Riddler now.
lostwarrior writes:
on June 24th, 2009 at 10:44:25 PM

oh god, come on people its going to get made. Nolan made a deal for inception and part of that deal is making batman 3. or whatever they want to call it. I mean come the f*ck on, Johnny depp is really wanting to be in this. And im pretty sure he has a lot of pull in hollywood
lostwarrior writes:
on June 24th, 2009 at 10:45:30 PM

besides that Nolan has not said a thing about it. So until u hear from Nolan. I would not get to excited about batman not being made
Hollywood1086 writes:
on June 27th, 2009 at 10:17:34 AM

um bale is contractually obligated for a third film! nolan is not, and i totally get that they want to make sure the story is good, but cmon, there are SO many characters in the batman universe, i don't see how it's IMPOSSIBLE to have another great story. i do agree tho that the franchise take a dive if nolan left. what he's done with batman is just SO good.
That_Genius writes:

ehhh would be better without Bale...

hell doesn't even really need Nolan as long as it keeps that dark gritty feel...
