More Join John Carpenter's "The Ward"

Its been all downhill for Carpentar since 1994 Escape from LA, but for nearly 20 years prior to this he directed some of the toughest films ever made. I still think The Thing is the best sci fi horror film ever made. Any movie in a psycho ward has a good start and with a mostly female cast it sounds very interesting. Hopefully it will get Carpentar back in the rotation.

BTW, I didn't think it would take very long to cast any of the girls from Friday the 13th in another film. That might have been the hottest cast of bitches in a slasher film I've ever seen.

Glad to see Carpenter off his ass instead of wasting away in a chair smoking weed and watching basketball...but his latest efforts since the late 80's have been completely scatter brained (Vampires only a slight step above). I dont see him ever coming back to the mainstream like he was in the 70's frankly because the man just doesnt know how to make things scary. Just being honest- has ANY carpenter film that was labelled 'horror' frightened you in the least? Hopefully he stops trying to scare us and just settles for being focussed and entertaining. Im tired of seeing him dig a hole for himself. Im already broken hearted by Walter Hill...

Look, not much "scares" me anymore either but come on, Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness we pretty freakin sadistic and The Thing was just nuts!

Um... are you guys forgetting The Thing? That is one of the best horror movies ever, not just my opinion either it is on most internet sites and magazines' top horror movie lists as well. Nowadays peopel confuse scary with brutal and grotesque, not so, or they mix up scary with young asian with long hair... I don't get it, but my point is that when you watch the earily movies of his career you see the birth of Michael Meyers, that scared the heck out of everyone, and the Thing, a cult classic that has a scene that was burned into everyone's mind when Charles Hallahan's fucking stomache champpped the guys arms off then his head went into crab mode, I was in the theater when they came out and trust me people were scared.

No ones forgetting The Thing- I specifically stated late 80's was the start of a terrible decline in entertainment value. Not many things terrify but I still watch the Thing and shudder at moments of suspense. Once he started into the They Live's and such everything he made was devoid of any kind of tense buildup and everything turned into a hashed up crapfest. Mouth of Madness was demented- but that's thanks to HP Lovecraft and a script by Michael DeLuca...but anything Carpenter put the pen to just fell soooo flat. Ghosts of Mars was pretty much his only complete bomb though- he still shows signs of the mastery. It's just in teaspoons at a time these days.

wow. 1st "shutter island" has a mental woman in an asylum, then zach snider's "sucker punch" movie has women in a psychiatric ward, now this. how fucking unoriginal. wait, thats hollywood
