Hugo Weaving to Return for "The Hobbit"Submit Comment
Guillermo del Toro was a guest on BBC radio where he talked about "The Hobbit" prequels, including some casting news and whether there will be a "bridge film." [via /Film]

"There is a whole other chapter, so to speak, which is the comings and going of Gandalf which are dealt with," he explained. "People that know the lore know that Gandalf was delayed with a crisis... with a character that is very shady called the Necromancer that proves to be Sauron."

When asked if Andy Serkis will return, Del Toro replied: "Yes [and] Ian McKellen is back, [and] Hugo Weaving in the roles they originated in the trilogy."

Regarding Smaug, Del Toro revealed that after eight months of design work, they have just "cracked the basic engineering." He thinks that they will need another six or seven months before Smaug will be ready.

Hugo Weaving - Matrix Trilogy. In Lord of the Rings. How great does that make your resume look! I like this guy. Liked him in V. Hollywood needs class-acts like this guy!

This guy takes too long for films. Just like Jackson and well the ultimate Cameron. And you know the results? Kinda poor. LoTR sucked. King Kong was ok. Hellboy 1 was cool but two was just well for him to say "we went back and corrected the mistakes we made with the first film" douche words. Corrected what? Made stupider, when Abe said Liz your pregnant guh I practically left the theater. As for the last Mook.... Ahhh JC Only film of his I liked was Aliens. Then again Directors Cut. So yeah his films over drawn and under scored very under scored... T2 wow I heard better music from a Casio... actually I think it was a Casio.

I might sound like a non nerd but what the hell is Smaug? I have never read any of the books(I know, I know, after I finish school this summer I will get to it).

Necronullus...just like to hear who do you think the best directors are? Because even though James Cameron did a few sh*t films to start off with, he made instant classics after that!

The dragon talks. He's not good or bad. He doesn't have any allegiances with anyone in particular. Eats/kills humans orcs, elves, dwarfs, whatever. He's king of his mountain with a tonne of treasue.
