Harrison Ford is Top-Earning Actor

Harrison Ford is Top-Earning ActorSubmit Comment
Forbes magazine released a list of top-earning actors who worked between June 2008 and June 2009. Topping the list is Harrison Ford, who needed to make only one movie to lead all other actors. That movie is "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

In order to get Ford to come out of his semi-retirement, Paramount Pictures agreed to a lucrative deal that split almost all of the film's earnings with Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. "Indiana Jones 4" went on to earn $786 million, and even though the trio had to wait until the studio made back its production and advertising costs, Ford still walked away with $65 million.

Coming in second is Adam Sandler with $55 million, thanks to such films as "You Don't Mess with The Zohan," "Bedtime Stories" and his big paycheck for "Funny People."

Will Smith came in third by just making "Hancock" and "Seven Pounds," while Eddie Murphy came in fourth with "Meet Dave."

One of the most hard-working actors in Hollywood, Nicolas Cage, came in fifth. He might not earn as much as Smith or Sandler, but he currently has six movies scheduled to hit theaters.

Surprisingly, Johnny Depp came in tenth, even though he was second last year with $72 million. What's missing? He didn't make a "Pirates of the Caribbean" film. Will Ferrell was 20th and has seen a steady decline in box office revenues for his comedies.

$65 mill, man Indy is still raking it in! I said it before and I'll say it again 80s action stars kick ass! Jackman and Bale can't fill these shoes.

He still has more money than he knows what to do with. Sounds like a winner in my book.

It's probably the best retirement to have 65 million dollars in your bank account. :) Do whatever you want, live your life. In Turkey, the elder, ultra-professional actors aged between 40-70 and even 80 get paid like 150-300.000 dollars; however new comer young comedians and blockbuster actors are paid 3-4 million dollar per movie. It's not a big gap between elders and youngsters in Hollywood, but Harrison Ford changes the rules anyway. :D

I hope they do at least 2 more IJ movies. Harry is one of the coolest actors out there.

I still haven't gotten over how much Indy 4 sucked ass

Harrison Ford is easily the replacement for Clint Eastwood. Snarly and convincingly tough, Ford will NEVER be out of work. Expect him to be the white Morgan Freeman. Older actors get plenty of supporting roles- especially when they kick ass.

Of course by your comment you meant that Clint could never be replaced. (just teasing you Buddy).

I ditto the Indy 4 comment, a f*cking fridge! Are you kidding me? I sometimes convince myself that there was never a fourth(I only saw it once and was a little drunk).

The introduction of Indy's son should have been a guy in his mid 30's to 40's... to pass the whip as it were. That would have been believable. Then if Ford didn't want to do another one, they'd have this new guy (if they wanted to proceed). Shia is a kid, he can't carry the Indiana franchise.

Ford was the only one who should have gotten paid for Indy 4. All the rest of them should be ashamed of themselves.

I completely agree with Ranger. They should of casted someone 10 years older than shia he cant carry a franchise like indy with out f*cking it up big time.
Ranger writes:

I always thought (for years) when they did make another Indiana there were going to do just that. I son (replacement for Harrison... eventually), Ford and Connery for one more kick at the cat. I don't think many would disagree that would have made for a better movie.
Ronsauce writes:

He got paid far too much. Everyone associated got paid far too much. The viewers are the ones who should have been paid. Honestly, it was one of the worst, big-budget movies I've seen in a while.

If you were told you were going to make a million+ whether you went to work today or not- would you still go?...The beards- Koepp-everyone knew they had a free ride with throwing anything together with Indy 4- which is what we got-Lazy Slop
