Fox Wants Ridley Scott to Helm "Alien" Prequel Posted: June 9th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Many fans were excited to hear that Ridley Scott was interested in bringing back the "Alien" franchise, buy pushing forward with a prequel. Unfortunately, Scott did not have any plans to helm the film. He instead hired commercial director Carl Erik Rinsch to take over. 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the property and are excited about an "Alien" film without Scott at the helm. The studio could care less that Scott highly recommends Rinsch, they believe that having the director of the original "Alien" would make for a better/more successful prequel. Until this is resolved, Fox has yet to greenlight the project. Rinsch may be a decent director, having previously helmed an interesting Saturn commercial (watch below). But since he's romantically involved with Ridley Scott's daughter, Jordan, 20th Century Fox may see this as Scott trying to do a favor for his possible son-in-law.

Ridley pulease dont be a sonava bitch, if it has to be done, do it yourself and hire this guy as your as your AD or DP or something. The franchise is f*cked up enough already.

Cool commercial, but if you want to hook up your daughter's dude then start your own studio and try to buy the Alien rights.

As a big fan of the first 2 movies I beg of you Mr. Scott PLEASE let this "franchise" die.

And why wouldn't Fox, all Scott does is make great films. Agree completely with Dre-EL, this needs a big boost in order to get this franchise were it needs to be and should be.

Wow that was a cool commercial. I could watch a whole movie of robot animals eating eachother, so let the kid direct that and Ridley should do Aliens part Zero.
