Which Actors Turned Down "The Expendables"?

Which Actors Turned Down The Expendables?Submit Comment
Moviehole is reporting that Sylvester Stallone tried to get many other actors for his "The Expendables" film, who ended up declining his offers.

According to the site, Jackie Chan was asked to be in the movie and so was Wesley Snipes. And everyone knows that Jean Claude Van-Damme turned down the chance to be in "The Expendables" in favor of some straight-to-DVD flicks. But did you know that Steven Seagal was incredibly close to being cast.

Apparently, Seagal was ripped off by producer Avi Lerner a few years back and Seagal now doesn't want to work with the man again. The two previously made "Mercenary for Justice," "Today You Die" and "Kill Switch" and if "The Expendables" went into development a year ago, Seagal would definitely have been on board.

Finally, Bruce Willis was approached to appear in the film as well. And he accepted. Willis is now trying to find time in his "A Couple of Dicks" shoot to head down to "The Expendables" set.

Good for Stallone for putting this all together. I just watch 'West Coast Customs' built his '56 Ford Truck for this movie... pretty neat. I don't blame Seagal for turning it down. Willis knows a good thing (history) when it's being made! Snipes should have taken it... he has money problems. Chan... don't know what he was thinking. VanDamme... well, he's just VanStupid.

I always thought Stallone was crazy not to cast Bruce in this. Should have known never to doubt Sly. 80s action stars kick ass!!!

Of all the actors listed above, Willis is by far the best choice. I'm super pumped for this movie.

bruce willis IS the man!....stallone really wants this to be as great as it can be....i'm already interested...i think any movie that has a bunch of well known actors is usually great...and i'm not counting remakes or sequels that change lead roles...just original movies...mars attacks is a perfect example
synthetic1985 writes:

and i think this is already making history....never seen so many well known action stars in one movie....truly unique and legendary already mr. stallone....and hey....he's a 'sly' one
lostwarrior writes:

Maybe JCVD will see this movie and say Damn it, I had a chance to actually do a good movie well nothing else to do now except leave hollywood
MrSammich writes:
on June 9th, 2009 at 9:35:38 PM

Dangit, Snipes would have been awesome in it. And shame on you Seagal, you should have grit your teeth and dealt with it, this movie seems to be on the right path to action nirvana anyways though.
MrSammich writes:
on June 9th, 2009 at 9:37:58 PM

Whoa! The idea of a sequel never even crossed my mind, then they can get all the other guys that missed out! Good thinking Sinestro.
synthetic1985 writes:
on June 9th, 2009 at 11:52:40 PM

haha i should have guessed that....hollywood always greenlights sequels to movies that make bank...even if it sounds lame and won't work
synthetic1985 writes:

but stallone created a new franchise here

Johnny Neat writes:

Bruce seems to have grown up a bit and is making sure he has a nest egg, not that he really needs one, as he is getting up there in age past the magic of Hollywood's ability to allow him to play his best role as John Mclaine. When actors get older, acting skills is the only thing you got since action isn't that easy to pull off. Not everyone can be Jackie Chan fit, Eastwood beast or like Sean Connery in The ROCK
PrevalentMind writes:

THEY SHOULD GET JACKIE, STEVEN, AND FREDDY AND JASON AND FIGHT THE XMAN AND ROSIE ODONNELL
Ranger writes:
on June 10th, 2009 at 10:32:26 PM

That's no contest. Rosie would consume them all with her mouth. And anyone know if VanDamme is on suicide watch since turning down this movie? If not... he should be (watched... not suicidal).
