Studio Abandons "The Exorcist" Remake (Sort of)Submit Comment
Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Vertigo Entertainment has abandoned the idea of remaking "The Exorcist." Instead, the studio will adapt Mark Opsasnick's book "The Real Story Behind The Exorcist."

The book revolves around a reporter trying to track down the real person that the movie "The Exorcist" was based on and discovers that there was more to the story. During the investigation, different tales are told by "witnesses" from their perspective that lead the reporter to the real-life inspiration.

Producers working on the picture have previously been involved in such remakes as "The Ring," "The Grudge" and "Quarantine," but are leaving "The Exorcist" alone. They will even ignore the newspaper articles that inspired the 1973 horror film.

Just don't try to remake it. Today's Hollywood doesn't have the balls to take on a movie like The Exorcist and remake it without leaving out the most disturbing scenes and turning it into run-of-the-mill PG-13 bullsh*t.

i wonder how hollywood could lower themselves this low...there wasn't this many remakes last decade or previous ones...somebody should place a bomb threat on hollywood if this remaking sh*t is gonna continue like it's not a problem

Personally, I would love to see a "re-imagining" of The Exorcist, starring Dakota Fanning and Gary Oldman. Guess I'm just a true fan - I can't get enough of The Exorcist.
Cheers.
