Disney Remaking "Flight of the Navigator"Submit Comment
Disney is getting ready to remake the 1986 sci-fi adventure movie "Flight of the Navigator" with Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs) coming on board to write the screenplay.

The original movie told the story of a 12-year-old boy who is abducted by an alien spacecraft in 1978 and reappears eight years later, still the same age and with no memory of what happened. NASA scientists discover a connection between the boy and a downed spacecraft and try to exploit the boy, who ultimately escapes with the ship and attempts to reunite with his family.

The movie grossed only $17 million when it was released but was later rediscovered on VHS, becoming a cult hit. John Hyde, who executive produced the first one, steps into the same role for the new version.

f*ck you Hollywood. I discovered this movie a couple of years ago and I loved it so thanks for ruining it. FFS come up with original ideas. If you want to remake movies, remake terrible movies (one example that comes to mind is Eragon). Please leave the good movies alone.

Sure. Why not. Remake everything.

I think a remake would be fun to watch. There should be interest from those who liked the original as well as those who didn't watch the original.

if hollywood wasn't so f*cking pathetic....they wouldn't be remaking this, among others....plain and simple....but as always before, nothing will compare to the original....i showed it to my niece....she loved it too...must be the 80s vibe....disney and other film companies seem to be losing it...at least pixar hasn't done anything like this

Loved that movie!!!... But why remake it? Why?! Does someone owe back taxes, another pool or child support payments for that Columbia coke whore model? What's next, will we be getting a new D.A.R.Y.L., Explorers or Legend? Oh sh*t why did I even write that? Forget Hollywood, you already have your evil rehash sights on The Gate & The Karate Kid, that one is Horrible enough.

synthetic1985, I don't know. I think Wall-E was just that if you think about it too much. Wall-E was the love child of E.T. & Johnny 5.

This was an excellent movie. I saw it at least ten years ago and visually it was awesome, especially for the 80's. Hollywood needs to correctly pick what movies they should and shouldn't remake. This is NOT one of them.

it's all for money and today's technology applied to it...they can't get enough of it...it's like they don't want to throw classics away yet they bring it back and kill it...makingcircles is right, they should just re-release it....E.T. seemed to do well right?....and the exorcist?...i honestly think people like watching classics on the big screen...they should look more into that if they're so hell bent on making money....someone on here said they had a private screening of 'the goonies'...and everybody enjoyed themselves...i say there's nothing wrong with re-releasing hits these days because i'd rather see that than remakes that mess it up
