Sam Raimi Confirms "Spider-Man 4" Villain?

Sam Raimi Confirms "Spider-Man 4" Villain?Submit Comment
Director Sam Raimi spoke to FearNET about the upcoming "Spider-Man 4" movie, and even though he won't see the script for another three weeks, he clearly knows what's going to be in it.

When asked about whether the villain in the new movie will be a vampire (Morbius), Raimi turns to the camera and gives a look to confirm the news. Watch the video below to see his reaction.

Raimi was the one that started the Morbius rumor, when he told Empire back in January that he would like to make him the main villain instead of The Lizard. "I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius," he explained. "He's really cool. A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural."

But this news also makes it possible for Dr. Curt Connors (Dylan Baker) to finally turn into The Lizard after appearing in both "Spider-Man 2" and "Spider-Man 3." Morbius and The Lizard have a strong connection in the comic books and both are scientists who tried to treat themselves using animals only to become villainous monsters.

About Morbius: Michael Morbius was a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist, who had attempted to cure himself of a rare blood disease with an experimental treatment involving vampire bats and electroshock therapy. It didn't go exactly to plan and he instead became afflicted with a far worse condition that mimicked the powers and blood-thirst of a vampire.

He said he'd see the script in 3 weeks 2 weeks ago already.

Meaning he only says now it'll be another 3 weeks before he sees it. Either this interview is old(er), or SR is BSing.

Spidey has been "Ruined" continuously since the mid seventies... Stop blaming Sam. ...Although i do think Mr Raimi's talents are being wasted on sugary crap like this... Give him the next Batman... Hell, give him A-TEAM, and use the famous Raimi-cam to simulate B.A.s fist hitting people in the face.

Well, well, well- I knwe we'd come around to it eventually- Spiderman finally faces off with Edward Cullen. [groans] Actually- this doesn't sound to bad. But I think the whole vampire thing certainly needs a new twist to it. Underworld and Twilight have made bloodsucking a cliche in Hollywood; I'm a big fan of the lizard though- I think that it should be an excellent addition- at least that part of it.

You guys complain about Sam, I take it no one reads the comics. Google Brand New Day and One More Day. That sh*t will make you want to drive to New York City and punch Joe Q in the face.

I think this could potentially save the movie franchise. With the two scientists involved, it could have the serious dark tone the third one needed. We'll see though, I don't really have any faith in this yet.

@Skywalker121289 did you see 30 days of night? raimi was involved with that, that was a good vampire movie

rocketman, just because he did bad on one fil doesn't mean he'll do bad on another, look at the first two spiderman films he made, f*cking fantastic. Plus he said he learned what his mistakes were with the third film. Give him a chance, I'm sure he'll do good with the fourth film.

VAMPIRES..VAMPIRES..EVERY f*ckING MOVIE HAS A VAMPIRE IN IT! HOW ABOUT DOING SOMETHING NO OTHER SUPERHERO FILM HAS DONE BEFORE: BEFORE THE OPENING CREDITS HAVE SPIDEY IN A WILD KNOCKDOWN DRAGOUT BATTLE AGIANST THE RHINO AND THE SCORPION...WHERE IN THE END SPIDEY IS VICTORIOUS..THEN THE OPENING CREDITS..THEN BEGIN THE TOTALLY UNRELATED STORY W/ ELECTRO & MYSTERIO AS THE VILLIANS. NO MARY JANE IN PERIL THIS TIME..SHE AINT HOT ENOUGH ANYMORE TO FIGHT OVER. SPIDEY 1 SHE HAD A HUGE RACK...SPIDEY 3..FLAPJACKS!

Thanks to Twilight and the 12 to 48 female demographic that can't get enough of pale, handsome and thin bloodsucking Lotharios, choosing a vamp for Spidey's villain makes excellent economic sense, but is still a terrible and disheartening film choice. Expect SM4 to work hard to lure in the vamp lovers.

DNA, that is a great f*cking idea about the pre-credit fight!
Kal-El writes:

If Morbius gives himself the powers, it's not really "supernatural," Sam. Get your sh*t together. And I agree with DNA, if Spidey deals with another villain, make it a KO, end of story. In the comics, Spidey would kick the Vulture's ass on his lunch break, and then go fight someone else.
burpie writes:

They are so glad there's a vampire character in Spidey so they can pull the Twilight audience over too...BS for me. Seems it's going downhill with Spidey and the #3 was only the start...
mattcl23 writes:

man, I was hoping they would bring Morbius into the Blade series. I would much rather see those two go at it instead of Spidey.
