First Look: M. Night ShyamalanSubmit Comment
Thanks to USA Today, we now have photos of Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) as Zuko, a "firebender" who can manipulate flames, and Noah Ringer (Aang), an Avatar who can manipulate weather. Click on the link below to check them out.

Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film "The Last Airbender" is the opening chapter in Aang's struggle to survive. The story follows the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his irresponsible ways and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.

"The Last Airbender" is directed by M. Night Shyamalan and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2nd, 2010. The trailer is set to appear in front of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" on June 24th.

"looks laaaame why is M. Night doing this?"------ Just count the number of wrinkles in any politician’s face right now and yes you guessed it, we are in a recession and Shyamalan is taking anything that he can get. See also, Cuba Gooding Jr.

LOL @ MK ULTRA not knowing what he's talking about. Shyamalan has had this in the works since before The Happening.

Of course, there's a huge twist at the end when Aang is revealed to be iCarly.

Can't come soon enough cause I'm super curious. I hope he keeps it serious since that's all it would need.

He needs to just quit f*cking around and make a sequel to "Unbreakable" already!

I am a HUGE shyamalan fanatic who hated the happening... so i'm a little skeptical... but yes i hope this becomes something new for him to shake off his horror one trick pony act while at the same time signaling a return to form for my favorite director (return to form meaning MAKING A MOVIE THAT IS DECENT!) I love this director. sixth sense signs unbreakable even the widely reviled village and lady in the water.... i love them all.

Unbreakable is the only movie of his I own...that could have been a great franchise

agreed 100%. we need an unbreakable sequel

Ok smokemouth lets use ‘Signs’ as a benchmark for M Night movies in general and compare ticket sales to every movie he has directed after it. (amounts are total worldwide ticket gross) ‘Signs’ 2002 [$408,247,917], ‘The Village’ 2004 [$256,697,520], ‘Lady in the Water ‘2006 [$72,785,169] and ‘The Happening’ 2008 [$163,403,799]. Now regardless of when Night began this project, the truth is in the money and sadly he had to sell out due to recent movies performing not within ‘expectations’. Still unsure if I ‘know what I am talking about’?

Die, M Night. You haven't had a decent film since Unbreakable. Can't you people see his films are getting progressively worse? And you have hope for a live action remake of an ugly anime-like cartoon based on some guy playing with elementals, a show that isn't mainstream enough to make any real money outside the 6-11 demographic? Anyone recall The Pokemon movie? Power Rangers? Any other flash in the pan fad turned movie of the minute? Doesn't it concern you that M. Night has had to resort to nicktoon films just to stay afloat, to stay relevant? Doesn't it bother you M. Night has burned all his credits he earned on The Sixth Sense by churning out one crappy film after another? He's on probation. And unless Airbender earns some real cash, he's going to get expelled. He'll be making indie films in his bathroom; he can combine two of his 'sh*ttier' films into one and call it 'Signs in the Water'. Or one about his bowel movements: Unflushable. M. Night's on thin, thin ice. He ain't Sterling and he isn't Hitchc*ck. He needs to get hungry and make what people (adults) want to see. On the bright side, he still hasn't fallen as far or as fast as Richard Kelly.
