"Mad Max 4" to be Live-Action?

"Mad Max 4" to be Live-Action?Submit Comment
Back in March, director George Miller revealed that he's still interested in a fourth "Mad Max" movie, but instead of making it live-action, he wants it to be an R-rated 3-D anime film.

Now, according to The Daily Telegraph, Miller is scouting locations and preparing to shoot "Mad Max 4" in Sydney later this year. This suggests that the anime route has been abandoned and that the fourth installment will once again be live-action.

Miller previously revealed that Mel Gibson will likely not return. "It won't be Mel," he said. "He was 21 when he made the first one, now he's a lot older and his passion is for filmmaking and directing. I don't think he is into acting and I don't think he would be interested in being involved at all."

But that's not quite true, Gibson is currently starring in "Edge of Darkness." So is it possible that Gibson's return to acting gave Miller an opportunity to shoot "Mad Max 4" the way he originally planed, live-action and with Gibson in the lead?

Enough of oldie heroes pretending to be like when they were 25. Miller should risk to introduce a new actor if he doesn't want this to look ridiculous (sorry for Harrison, but he did...). What about Gerard Butler?

I think it's awesome for action heroes to make a comeback. If Gibson doesn't do it, no-one should.

This makes me recall Sly Stallone in the latest Rambo. When I think of Mad Max I certainly think of Mel Gibson. Maybe they can incorporate him into the film with a short cameo, passing the Mad Max torch off to a new actor. How about Cillian Murphy or Sam Worthington?

I would rather see a fake-action movie about this sh*t...unless you got the same Mel Gibson from the Passion of the Jew South Park episode.

Please Mel, please! Come back! Just make it relevant to his age and time.
