"The Road" Trailer is Here!Posted: May 14th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
After so many delays, we are happy to bring you the official trailer for the Viggo Mortensen drama/thriller "The Road," which is based on Cormac McCarthy's bestseller. Click on the link below to check it out.
In the movie, a father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food and each other.
"The Road" is directed by John Hillcoat (The Proposition) and in addition to Mortensen, it also stars Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 16th.

This is nothing at all like Transformers 2 and I recommend the book because it's one of McCarthy's best. They show too many random faces in the trailer it's not that much of an ensemble cast. The movie is about a father and son. That's what the trailer should have emphasized on instead of the random words in ALL CAPS

Looks amazing. I think the WP estimate for the opening weekend is way off after watching this trailer. I'm definitely gonna watch this.

The entire thing looks good until the end when they use that stock scream SFX. what the f*ck is that? That was used in the opening to 1990's AHHHH REAL MONSTERS. But other then that.... looks amazing

Yeah, might be a excellent movie, but that trailer was bad ( the corny text in CAPS, Wilhelm scream and etc.) I haven't read the book but imagine the story isn't as action oriented as this trailer makes it out to be. Well, you gotta sell it for the mass market... Can't wait to see this.

terrible trailer for "the road." somehow the trailer was able to achieve the effect of making "the road" look like "doomsday." the trailer should have been a lot slower and quieter. i'll still see the movie just the trailer isn't advertising the real movie.

I'm sorta with byoakam on in that it the trailer could have had less of an action feel to it and instead have portrayed the bleak intensity of the novel. I don't think the trailer is giving and accurate description of what the story is all about and thats a disservice to the brilliance of the book. And as a side note, I know McCarthy never says exactly what happened to the world, and thats one of the great points of the novel; the details of why are few and the reader doesn't get wrapped up in anything other than the story of the man and the boy but judging by the scenes and voice overs early in the trailer, it looks like Hollywood is going to turn this into an opportunity to scare us about the evils of global warming finger yet again. That said, consider my ticket already purchased...I'm totally in.

"Don't not go to this movie if u are being treated for depression"...that's the disclaimer that needs to be on the book and movie.

Good god these f*cking Transformer nerds are pissing me off. I do agree a slower trailer would be more suitable. It reminded me of the There Will Be Blood trailer, which followed with a much less action orientated film. Still I think this will be amazing!!

Hi.
This trailer does not seem very good, comparing to the great novel of McCarthy : http://stalker.hautetfort.com/archive/2008/12/11/the-road-by-cormac-mccarthy.html
