In the new movie, Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia must join forces with Tamina, a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

"Prince of Persia" is directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 28th, 2010.

though I'm not a huge fan of Jake Gyllenhaal (except Donnie Darko) this looks promising

A Persian being played by a white dude, only Disney and only in Hollywood. I thought we would at least be seeing some CGI, they filmed this almost a year ago!

^^ exactly, how the hell this did happened? the prince Of Persia sounds like, well, a persian dude, not like a cowboy.

haha hey guys don't forget a white blade....well i guess we already knew that....oh man this is a weird idea...but they should have changed his skin color or sumthin.....like robert downey jr. did in tropic thunder....would've made it better maybe...just a thought

Even if they literally cast the real prince of persia this movie would still be a bucket of sh*t

Black Bond ain't that bad an idea. I'm half black and don't really give much of a sh*t all together. Just saying. The role has changed so much over the years that I don't think seeing a black Bond would be so weird. I will admit that a black Batman would be weird though. lol You wouldn't see him at all!!!!

Persians are Caucasian, not that Jake isn't miscast.
BlueMobius writes:

First: a black Bond wouldn't be a bad idea (it's not the guy's real name anyway....almost like a badge) and second: I'm not sure this looks like Prince of Persia; just another adventure movie set in the desert. Hmmmm.

All movie rolls shold be played by black people otherwise everyones rasist.but saying that all the baddies still should be white British guys with posh accents.

I could just see this movie earning 100 billion dollars next year.

The still kind of threw me off, as it looks cheesy, but having Ben Kingsley in any movie is a good show...Bloodrayne? Well, maybe not.
usualclerk writes:

Don't forget to add, "A Sound of Thunder", "Thunderbirds", and "The Love Guru" to Sir Ben Kingsley's list of glad to be in that one!

It's early, but I don't have much hope for this movie. Anyone remember that Orlando Bloom guy when he tried his hand with "Kingdon of Heaven"?
