The original- besides a horrifying and promising opening- quickly fades into a disjointed, badly edited action picture...which romero can only be blamed himself. This ALWAYS- since its release- was regarded as a great concept that needed a bigger budget, more focused direction, and talented actors. I'm glad its finally getting it. I like Romero but whoever says the man ISNT severly 'hit or miss' with everything he's made. But I dont watch Romero to be horrified...I watch him for his knack to insert social commentary into plots that normally would never reach to such heights... the outcomes sometimes leave more to be desired though.

Summarized: Romero was a bad, distracting editor for the original and the story also suffers from a mean case of boring...there ya goooo.
