"Family Guy" Spin-Off Renewed for Second Season

"Family Guy" Spin-Off Renewed for Second SeasonSubmit Comment
While Fox is canceling some of their shows, the network has decided to order a second season of the upcoming "Family Guy" spin-off, called "Cleveland." The new 13-episode pickup brings the total order for the show to 35 episodes -- and that's months before the series has even premiered.

The animated comedy, centered on the Cleveland Brown character from "Family Guy," was originally targeted for a debut this spring. But in November, the network decided to push the launch to fall 2009 to give the creative team more time for development and production.

The move was made to keep the animated series in continuous production and avoid shutting down and losing talent and crew. Because of the long lead time in animation, the pickup also ensures that Fox will have fresh episodes for fall 2010.

Any bets that this won't make it 3 seasons? Hell...I bet it won't even make it half way through season 2 before being pulled.

let's not and say we did...i'd rather continue seeing him randomly in family guy...it's what makes supporting characters so appealing before they give them their own show and totally ruin it

Makingcircles idk, I thought the same about American Dad, but look at it now!

I've read a synopsis of the show, and as awful as it sounds (and I say this heavily because I love "Family Guy" - seasons 1 through 4 only, mind you), it's gonna do well. FOX has been kissing Seth MacFarlane's ass ever since they made the error of canceling "Family Guy" a few years ago and watched it soar through syndication and DVD sales. They're basically gonna do anything necessary to appease him. And if that means monopolizing his lagging sense of humor by giving him three shows on the network (the aforementioned series and "American Dad"), then so be it. MacFarlane's essentially made FOX his bitch (and that's saying a lot because FOX was already a bitch network to begin with). NBC's in the same position with Tina Fey, sadly.

"NBC's in the same position with Tina Fey, sadly." Sadly? 30 Rock is one of NBC's funniest shows, so it's fine by me.

"30 Rock"? Funny? Uh, right, about as funny as "My Name is Earl." I like seeing Alec Baldwin be a narcissist as much as the next guy, but this show just doesn't do it for me. It would've suffered the fate of "Arrested Development" seasons ago (i.e., getting canned in spite of critical acclaim and a cult following) had Fey not attained relevance all of a sudden with her ubiquitous Sarah Palin impersonations on "SNL." No doubt the ONLY funny thing she's ever contributed to the show, but unfortunately, people started paying attention to her and the show got saved. Liberal masses be damned. Sorry, but I'll never have respect for the person who brought this country "Mean Girls" (or any Lindsay Lohan-starring vehicle, for that matter).

CORRECTION: The "cult following" comment did not apply to "30 Rock," just "Arrested Development. My mistake.
